RPCS3 does not run on a PlayStation 4 and does not emulate PS4 games. It is a PlayStation 3 emulator for computers. So the practical comparison is between playing PS4 games on a PS4 and using RPCS3 on a PC to play compatible PS3 games. Those are different game libraries, and RPCS3 results vary by game and computer.
Can you play RPCS3 on a PS4?
No. RPCS3 is a PlayStation 3 emulator and debugger intended to run on a computer; the official project materials do not describe an installation for PS4 hardware. A PS4 plays games made for that console, while RPCS3 lets a compatible computer run some PS3 software. It is not a way to run PS4 games on a PC.

How do RPCS3 compatibility labels work?
The official RPCS3 compatibility list covers games tested with the emulator and warns that its status information changes frequently. Read the entry for the exact game you want, including the latest report, rather than relying on a broad percentage or an old summary.
- Playable: The game can be completed with playable performance and no game-breaking glitches. This is not a guarantee of identical performance on every computer.
- Ingame: The game may start or be playable for part of its content, but cannot be finished, has serious glitches, or performs too poorly to meet the project’s playable definition.
- Other statuses: Intro, Loadable, and Nothing describe earlier stages of compatibility. A game that reaches a menu or loads is not necessarily completable.
Compatibility status is a useful screening tool, not a promise about your specific setup. A status may change as RPCS3 develops, and the game-specific reports provide more context than a label alone.

How well will RPCS3 run on your PC?
There is no universal answer based on the information established by the official sources here. Performance depends on both the PC and the particular PS3 game, so a system that works well for one title may not produce the same result in another. The PS4, by contrast, is a fixed console platform; that difference explains why the PC experience can vary, but it does not prove that a PC will outperform a PS4.
Before deciding whether your computer is suitable, check RPCS3’s current system requirements and the compatibility entry for your game. Avoid treating a general “Playable” status as a hardware benchmark: it means the game can be completed under reported conditions, not that every computer will deliver the same result.

- Check the game first. Find the title in RPCS3’s official compatibility list and read its current status and latest report.
