If your child asks, “Mum, where did my Robux go?”, a fake free-Robux offer or giveaway is one possible explanation. Roblox warns that these offers can be used to steal login details or personal information, and a phishing page may lead to missing Robux or items. You cannot tell from the loss alone exactly what happened, so reassure your child, stop contact with the suspicious page or account, and secure and report the account together.
How a Roblox scam can lead to missing Robux
A scam may begin with a promise of free Robux, a valuable item, or a giveaway. The person behind it might ask for a password, direct the child to an off-platform link, or use a fake survey or form to collect information. Roblox says its most common account-loss routes include sharing login information and filling out online surveys; stolen credentials can put Robux and items at risk. Roblox’s account-safety guidance says there are no sanctioned offerings of free Robux.

That is a plausible route, not proof of what happened in an individual case. Missing currency might also follow an unofficial trade: a child hands over Robux or items because someone promises to return something later. Roblox says it cannot enforce deals made outside its official Trade and Sell features or return items or Robux when the other party breaks an unofficial deal. Scams can also involve friendly-seeming requests or fake giveaways in games. A joint guide from Roblox and Internet Matters describes patterns including phishing, account takeovers, fake giveaways, and trust trades. What to do first
- Stop the interaction. Close the suspicious page or form, stop messaging the account, and do not download or run anything it offered. Do not enter more details.
- Use only Roblox’s official app or website. Change the password if the child entered it somewhere suspicious, and review the account’s security settings. Roblox says never to enter a password anywhere except the Roblox login page or official app. Roblox’s account-safety instructions.
- Turn on an additional sign-in safeguard. Roblox recommends two-step verification and also offers passkeys as an account-security option. These measures can strengthen protection, but they do not guarantee that an account cannot be compromised. Availability and setup options may vary.
- Report the suspicious activity. Use Roblox’s Report Abuse tools to report the account, message, link, or experience. Reporting helps Roblox review it; it does not itself establish that a particular loss will be restored. Roblox’s Report Abuse guidance.
- Contact Roblox Support if needed. If the child cannot access the account or Robux or items are missing, contact Roblox through its official support route. Do not assume a refund or restoration is guaranteed; the outcome depends on the case.
Use the response that fits what happened
If the child entered a password or personal details
Secure the account through the official Roblox app or website, enable two-step verification or a passkey if available, and report the page, message, or experience. If the child reused that password elsewhere, change it on those other accounts too. Do not reply to the scammer or use links they send as a way to recover the account.
If the child gave Robux or items in an unofficial deal
Report the account or experience and contact Roblox Support, but be clear with your child about the limit: Roblox says it cannot enforce deals made outside its official Trade and Sell features. For future exchanges, use only the platform’s official mechanisms rather than trusting a promise to return currency or items later.

How a parent can help prevent repeat problems
If your account is linked to your child’s, review the parental controls available for that account. Depending on the child’s age and account type, Roblox lets linked parents manage settings such as communication, connections, spending limits, and notifications. Monthly spending limits do not affect gift-card redemption, according to Roblox’s parental-controls overview.
