The RingCentral app is free to download, but using its business phone service requires a RingCentral subscription. The app can let employees access business numbers from mobile devices, which may help a distributed team keep business calls separate from a personal number. Check supported devices and subscription terms for your intended setup.

Which plan fits your team?
Essentials for a small team with basic needs
Essentials is the lowest listed tier, but its 20-user cap matters if your organization is growing. Its listed bundle centers on calling and messaging. Compare it with the next tier if you need video meetings, fax or the broader features shown for Standard.

Standard for broader communications
Standard raises the listed user limit to unlimited and adds internet fax, meetings, integrations, quality-of-service reports and 24/7 support. It may be a more practical starting point when a team needs more than phone and messaging, but confirm that the specific integrations and support terms you require are included.

- 12 lines (programmable line keys)
- HD Voice up to 7KHz on all audio paths (Speaker, Handset, Headset)

Premium for advanced administration and call handling
Premium is the tier to examine if automatic call recording, single sign-on, multi-site administration, hot desking, advanced call handling, real-time analytics or developer features are requirements. Verify the precise feature entitlements and any usage conditions with RingCentral.
Ultimate for device reporting and storage
Ultimate’s distinguishing items in the cited comparison are device status reporting and alerts, and unlimited storage. If those are not operational requirements, compare the lower tiers rather than assuming the top plan is necessary.

What to check before comparing quotes
- Total cost: Calculate the intended user count under the desired billing term, then ask whether phone numbers, taxes, discounts or add-ons change the quote.
- Feature needs: Identify whether you need only calling and messaging or also video, fax, call recording, analytics and advanced call handling.
- User limits and support: Essentials is listed for up to 20 users; check the support coverage attached to the plan you are quoted.
- Integrations: Verify the exact business apps you use, their current availability and any plan requirements. RingCentral’s pricing and app pages publish different integration totals, so a broad count is not a dependable substitute for checking a specific integration.
- Endpoints: Decide whether staff will use desktop or mobile apps, desk phones, or a combination. Confirm device support for the exact models you intend to use.
Does RingEX work with desk phones and existing business tools?
RingCentral offers a support hub with desk phone setup and management resources, including sections for Alcatel-Lucent, Avaya, Cisco, Mitel, Poly, Snom, Unify and Yealink. That manufacturer-level documentation does not prove that every model works or can be provisioned in your configuration. Check RingCentral’s current model-specific compatibility or provisioning instructions before buying a phone.

Because those vendor pages give different totals, confirm the exact app and required plan in the current catalog instead of relying on a single integration-count claim.
Is the free trial useful?
RingCentral’s plan page, captured October 7, 2026, described a 14-day free trial for eligible new subscribers with up to 20 phone lines. The page said the trial includes voice, auto attendant, online meetings, team messaging, fax and conferencing, but SMS is unavailable during trial use. It also listed conditions for hardware used during the trial, including return timing after cancellation. Check the live trial terms before signing up, particularly if you plan to use or ship hardware.
A trial can help a team assess the interface and whether its core workflows fit, but do not treat it as proof of call quality under your normal conditions. Use the trial to check the devices, call routing, integrations and plan features you actually expect to use.
What support and reliability can buyers assess?
The support hub organizes help for account setup, billing, call handling, analytics, troubleshooting, texting, fax, meetings, integrations and device management. It is useful documentation, but the index alone does not establish a specific response time or service level for every customer or plan. Ask for the applicable support terms and service commitments in writing if they are important to your operation.
Who should consider RingEX?
RingEX is worth evaluating if you want a cloud business phone system that can combine calling with other communications features, and you can match a plan to your needs. It is less straightforward to assess from headline prices alone: feature bundles differ, Essentials has a stated user cap, some capabilities sit in higher tiers or add-ons, and desk-phone support must be checked model by model. Buyers should validate their required features, devices and integrations against the current offer before committing.
