If your controller is not detected in Riders Republic, inputs are missing or doubled, or the camera moves on its own, start with the game’s controller settings. On PC, then test with only one controller-input layer active. If the same stick movement appears in other games or a controller tester, investigate the controller itself; a drift symptom alone does not prove hardware failure.
Check the preset and button mapping
In Riders Republic, open Options > Controller. Ubisoft Help says the game offers Racer, Steep, and Trickster controller presets. If controls feel unfamiliar or buttons do not do what you expect, check the selected preset and open Controller Mapping to review or change individual inputs.

Use Ubisoft’s control customization instructions for the documented menu route. A wrong preset or changed mapping can explain unexpected or misassigned controls, but it does not by itself establish why a controller is not detected.

If the camera moves on its own, adjust dead zone and sensitivity
In the controller options, find the stick dead-zone and camera-sensitivity settings. Ubisoft’s accessibility overview says smaller dead zones make sticks more sensitive to input. As a test, raise the dead zone somewhat and see whether small unintended stick readings stop moving the camera. Adjust sensitivity separately to suit your preference.

This is a settings test, not a guaranteed repair for a worn or faulty stick. If the camera still drifts, continue with the checks below rather than assuming the game has a universal drift defect; no current official source confirms such a game-wide issue or a specific official drift fix.
On PC, test one controller-input path at a time
If the controller connects inconsistently, the game keeps switching to keyboard prompts, or buttons are missing or duplicated, temporarily close controller remappers and disable extra launcher input handling for a test. Community discussions describe conflicts involving Steam settings or multiple programs registering the same device, but they are anecdotal reports from 2023–2024, not a confirmed Ubisoft fix. Current launcher behavior may differ.

- Close controller remappers and other software that may handle the controller.
- Temporarily test without an extra launcher input layer, changing only one setting at a time.
- Restart Riders Republic after each change and check detection, prompts, and button behavior.
- If the problem remains, restore the setting you changed before testing another input layer.
Community reports that inform this test include a Steam discussion about controller detection and a discussion about a PS5 controller on PC after an update. Neither establishes a universal fix. Reinstalling the game is not a useful first step on the evidence available here.
Find out whether the problem follows the controller
Test the same controller in another game or with a controller tester. If an untouched stick registers movement in more than one place, consult the controller manufacturer’s calibration and warranty guidance. If the issue happens only in Riders Republic, focus on the game’s dead zone, sensitivity, mapping, and—on PC—the active input path.

For a persistent, reproducible game-specific problem, Ubisoft lists Riders Republic among games with a dedicated bug-reporting tool. Its bug-reporting guidance recommends providing what happened, expected behavior, reproduction steps, any workaround, and supporting images or video.

If independent tests point to a hardware fault, confirm that a replacement is supported for your platform before buying. Ubisoft maintains a supported-peripherals page; check its current list for the exact device and platform. Do not assume a controller model works on every platform, or replace a controller solely because the in-game camera drifts.
