To find a rare egg in Ride a Pet without searching the whole map, buy a radar from the Gears shop, equip it, and activate Use Radar. The radar then marks the direction and distance to an egg. Collect the egg and bring it back to your plot. Each radar is tied to one egg rarity tier, so the first decision is which tier you want to hunt.
What a radar does
Radars are Gears items. Ride A Pet’s official mechanics page describes them as equipment that guides you to a target egg: once equipped and activated, the game shows a distance marker you follow until you reach the egg, pick it up, and return it to your own plot. The same page warns that the Gears shop’s visible items, stock, and prices are dynamic, so the shop itself is the final authority on what you can buy and for how much (Ride A Pet official mechanics page, “Ride A Pet mechanics: the controls that matter,” checked September 19, 2026).

The six radar tiers
A September 2026 guide from Beebom, “All Radars in Ride a Pet and How to Use Them” (updated September 28, 2026), lists six standard cash radars, each matched to one rarity tier. The prices below are the figures that guide reported. They have not been checked against a live shop, and they can change, so compare them with what the Gears shop displays before you spend.

The jump from the lowest to the highest tier is large. A player who wants a Rare egg needs only the entry-level radar, while the Ethereal tier costs many thousands of times more according to the same guide’s figures. Choose the tier by the egg you actually need, not by the tier name alone.

Buying a radar
- Travel to the central ranch area and open the Gears shop.
- Find the radar for your target rarity. Note its displayed price and whether it is in stock.
- Buy it with in-game cash. Confirm the purchase before leaving the shop.
- Open your inventory and locate the radar, which should appear in your inventory or hotbar.
If the tier you want is not available, check the shop again later. The official page says stock rotates, so a missing item is not necessarily permanent.
Activating and following a radar
- Equip the radar from your inventory or hotbar.
- Activate Use Radar.
- Follow the target’s distance marker and the distance readout on screen toward the egg.
- Collect the egg when you reach it.
- Return the egg to your own plot to finish the retrieval.
The control flow is the part the official mechanics page confirms. Follow the on-screen marker rather than a fixed route, because the marker is what the game is actually tracking.

Timing, use limits, and what can differ
Third-party guides describe radars as limited-use items with a short tracking or retrieval window. They do not agree on the details, so treat the following as points to verify in the game rather than settled rules:

Other guides differ on whether a radar is used up after a single activation.
- Timer start: Guides disagree on when the tracking clock begins, whether at purchase, equip, or activation.
- Target selection: Descriptions of which eligible egg the radar picks are not consistent across guides.
- Duration: No exact time limit is confirmed by the official mechanics page, so this guide does not state one.
When a radar’s behavior differs from a guide, the live interface takes precedence. Check the item’s description in your inventory before activating it, and watch the marker and any timer displayed after activation.
