In Ride A Pet!, the Volcanic Egg is reported to be inside the volcano’s Dragon’s Lair, while the Magma mutation attempt takes place at the summit crater. They are separate destinations. Learn the route back to your ranch before picking up the egg, then bring it home to hatch.
Where to find the Volcanic Egg
Third-party walkthroughs describe traveling past the Desert, crossing the water to Volcano Island, and entering the volcano through a small opening in its side. Follow the descending passages to the Dragon’s Lair, where the guides place the Volcanic Egg. A flying mount is recommended in one walkthrough. How to escape the volcano with the egg
Before collecting the egg, identify and practice the route back out of the lair and to your ranch. A guide reports that returning after pickup is time-limited, but no official source establishes the countdown, how it works, or what happens if time runs out. Treat the timer as an unverified mechanic and avoid relying on a specific duration or assumed penalty. The walkthrough’s route advice supports planning the exit first.
- Find the side opening and trace the passages down to the Dragon’s Lair.
- Before taking the egg, learn the route back through the passages and out of the volcano.
- Collect the egg only when you are ready to make the return trip, then head back to your ranch.
How to try for the Magma mutation
The Magma attempt is reported at the open crater on the volcano’s summit—not in the Dragon’s Lair. A third-party walkthrough describes carrying an egg that can be dropped to the crater rim, using the drop prompt over the lava, and waiting for the result. Check the egg and its remaining time afterward before heading home. NerdsChalk’s Magma mutation guide reports this interaction and includes an attempt with a Bloom Egg, so the prompt should not be assumed to work only with Volcanic Eggs. The game’s current prompt is the best guide to eligibility; the full list of accepted eggs has not been established by official documentation.

The same guide reports a 15% Magma chance, but that figure is not independently verified by official game evidence. It also reports a 2.5T value in the Volcanic Egg pickup prompt; that is a reported prompt value, not a confirmed chance or guarantee. Treat both numbers as uncertain rather than dependable game rules.

Return the egg to your plot or ranch and hatch it there, as the walkthrough describes. Hatching is the next step, not a guarantee of a particular pet or mutation. Official documentation confirming hatch outcomes, reliable odds, failure consequences, or exact timer behavior was not available in the cited guides.
