In Sarah Matthews’s Expert Reviews test, it dried her thick hair in around seven minutes, but that is one reviewer’s result—not a guaranteed drying time or a standardized comparison with pricier dryers. Its most notable drawbacks are a highest-heat setting she found too hot on her scalp and clip-on attachments that are not magnetic.
What the Power Move is—and what it is not
The Power Move is a handheld hair dryer that uses clip-on styling attachments. It is distinct from Revlon’s oval One-Step hot-air brushes and volumizers, which are brush appliances rather than this dryer. That difference matters when checking product listings: the Amazon UK RVDR5222 page refers to a One-Step Volumizer, not the Power Move. Amazon UK’s RVDR5222 listing is therefore not evidence about the dryer reviewed here.

The available hands-on review is UK-based, so its prices are in pounds and should not be assumed to apply elsewhere. Model variants, plug types, local voltage, stock and pricing can differ by market. Revlon’s official dryer category provides broader product context but does not visibly confirm the Power Move on that page.
What the motor and controls offer
Expert Reviews reports that the Power Move has a 1600W digital brushless motor running at 110,000 RPM. Those figures describe the motor; by themselves, they do not prove that the dryer is faster or gentler than another model. The review measured airflow at 20.3m/s on the top speed, but it does not provide a standardized head-to-head test against more expensive digital-motor dryers.

The controls comprise three speed settings, four heat settings and a cold-shot button. That gives users several combinations to work with, including lower heat for styling or a cooler finish, rather than forcing every task onto one fixed setting.
Weight, cable and attachments
According to the reviewer, the dryer weighs 294g without its cable and 483g with it. It has a 2.5m cable and comes with a drawstring storage bag. Its compact, light design may be appealing if you want a dryer that is easier to handle or pack than a heavier appliance.

Four attachments are included:
- Concentrator nozzle: directs airflow for more focused drying and blow-drying.
- Diffuser: spreads airflow across a wider area for textured or curly hair.
- Root-lift comb: helps lift hair at the roots while drying.
- Smooth & Shine Finisher: uses a curved ceramic surface and, according to the review, the Coanda effect to help tame flyaways and add shine.
The attachments clip on securely, Matthews reports, but they are not magnetic. Swapping them can take more effort than a magnetic attachment system, a practical consideration for anyone with limited hand strength or who expects to change tools frequently.

How it performed in the review
Matthews, a Senior Staff Writer at Expert Reviews, says she tested the dryer over multiple hair washes. Her method included trying every attachment, rough-drying and round-brush blow-drying, and measuring noise, weight and wind speed. In her test, the top speed measured 20.3m/s, and her thick hair took around seven minutes to dry at the highest speed. These are her measurements and experience, not laboratory standards or a promise of results for every hair type, length or routine.

She also measured noise at 84dB on the lowest speeds and 89dB on the highest. Treat those readings as the results of that review’s measurement setup; they do not establish how loud the dryer will seem in every room or how it compares under a standardized test with competing models.
The smoothing attachment helped with flyaways in her test. However, she found the highest heat very hot on her scalp and recommended the middle heat setting. That is a personal test observation and recommendation, not clinical evidence that a particular setting prevents hair damage.

Is it a compelling alternative to pricier digital-motor dryers?
It is a plausible lower-cost option if your priorities are a light handheld dryer, adjustable speed and heat, and multiple styling attachments. The review’s positive drying and smoothing results support considering it, but they do not establish that it performs as well as a specific more expensive dryer across different hair types or styling tasks.

Matthews described it as “the most affordable hair dryer I’ve tested that packs in a digital, brushless motor” at a reviewed price of £65. That is her assessment based on her testing and market experience, not a market-wide price survey. A useful comparison with another dryer would need to consider more than motor type or RPM:

- Motor type and stated speed, alongside independently measured airflow and drying time.
- Weight and balance, including whether the cable is counted.
- Heat and speed controls, and the intended styling task.

- Noise measurements taken under comparable conditions.
The available review does not provide a complete standardized head-to-head dataset across alternatives, so it cannot support a definitive claim that the Power Move is faster, quieter or gentler than a particular premium model.
