Resumv is a free, open-source resume editor built with Astro and React that can be deployed as a static site. You can edit and preview a resume in your browser, export it in several formats, and host the generated files yourself. Resume content is saved in the current browser’s local storage rather than uploaded to a Resumv resume database—but that does not mean the site makes no network requests.
What Resumv does
Resumv’s project README describes a browser-based resume builder with no registration or login requirement. It adapts templates and rendering capabilities from Reactive Resume and identifies itself as an independent adaptation, not an official Reactive Resume release. The README lists 15 templates and sections for personal details, experience, education, skills, projects, and custom content. Read the Resumv project documentation.

Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?

That can suit someone who wants control over deployment and does not want to depend on an account-based editing workflow. In return, the site owner takes responsibility for building and hosting the app, while resume data remains tied to the browser where it is entered.
Where your resume data is stored—and what that means
According to the README, resume content is saved automatically in localStorage in the browser being used. Editing, previewing and generating PDFs, and exporting documents happen client-side. The project says it has no resume upload endpoint or external AI service that processes resume content.
#1 Best Overall
Local storage is not an encrypted vault or a cross-device sync system. Saved data is associated with the browser profile, device, and site address. It will not automatically appear in another browser, on another device, or on a separately hosted domain. Clearing site data—or using a private-browsing session that discards stored data—can remove the resume.
Use JSON export as a backup before changing devices, changing the hosted site’s address, or experimenting with templates. Keep the exported file somewhere separate from the browser profile; it can also be used to transfer resume content and design settings.

The README documents other network activity in production: Google Analytics 4, normal requests to the hosting provider, and fetches for public GitHub star and latest-commit metadata. Those facts are distinct from whether resume content is uploaded. The project’s privacy claim is specifically that it does not send resume content to a resume database or external AI processing service.
Rank #2
Self-hosters can remove or replace the Google tag, according to the README. If minimizing third-party requests matters to you, review the production configuration and decide whether to retain analytics and GitHub metadata fetching before deployment.
Export formats and template behavior
The README lists PDF, DOCX, Markdown, and JSON exports. PDF is intended to preserve the rendered design; DOCX is editable, but the project warns that decoration and pagination can differ from the PDF. Treat the PDF preview as the reference for PDF output, and inspect a DOCX export in the software your recipient will use if layout is important.
JSON is the useful format for backup and moving data between instances. The README says Resumv can import its own JSON exports and Reactive Resume v5 data, but does not support migration from Reactive Resume v4.

One template-selection behavior deserves care: the README says choosing a template card currently loads its complete example, including text and photo. It notes that Undo can restore earlier content; exporting JSON before trying a template is an additional way to preserve your work.
How to build and self-host Resumv
The documented prerequisites are Node.js 22.12.0 or later and Bun. The project’s setup and deployment instructions use Bun, build the app into a dist/ directory, and describe Cloudflare Workers static assets as one deployment example. Cloudflare is documented, not required: the README says to deploy the generated directory to a static hosting provider.
- Install the prerequisites. Make sure Node.js 22.12.0 or later and Bun are available in the build environment.
- Install dependencies. In the project directory, run
bun install --frozen-lockfile. - Start the local development server if needed. The README documents
bun run dev -- --backgroundfor local development. - Build the static site. Run the project’s production build command as documented in its README. The output is written to
dist/. - Deploy the output directory. Publish the contents of
dist/through a static hosting provider. For the documented Cloudflare Workers workflow, configure the Cloudflare account credentials in GitHub Actions secrets and update project-specific configuration. - Update project references for a custom domain. The README calls out the site URL, source references, sitemap and structured data, and repository and feedback links. Review these values so they point to your deployment rather than the upstream project.
The README does not establish that a particular hosting plan is free or suitable for every deployment. Check the provider’s current terms and make sure its static-file support fits your needs.
Language support and other practical limits
The project says its current interface and bundled or default fonts primarily support English and Latin-script resumes. It says complete Chinese typography support is not available. If you need a different writing system or specific font behavior, check the rendered preview and exported files before relying on the editor for a final application.
These feature and limitation statements reflect the project’s documentation; they are not independent test results. For a technically capable user comfortable with static deployment and manual backups, Resumv offers a browser-first editor without a resume-processing server. If automatic syncing, encrypted cloud storage, or a managed service is essential, the localStorage workflow may not meet that need.
