Google TV and Android TV use Uninstall; Roku TV uses Remove app from the Home-screen options menu. The menus differ, and removing a Roku app may also remove it from other devices on the same Roku account.
Identify your TCL TV’s platform
Check the interface on your TV’s Home screen or in Settings before following the steps. TCL’s instructions differ for Google TV, Android TV, and Roku TV; menu names and available options can also vary by model and software version, and Android TV options may vary by region and app availability.

Delete an app on TCL Google TV
Use Settings
- From the Google TV Home screen, open Settings.
- Under Device, select Apps.
- Under Downloaded apps, select the app you want to remove.
- Select Uninstall, then confirm with OK.

Use the Play Store
- Open the Play Store on the TV.
- Find the app you want to remove.
- Select Uninstall.
Delete an app on TCL Android TV
Select the app, choose Uninstall, and confirm if prompted. You can also reach the Play Store from the Android TV Apps screen. The exact menu labels and available options depend on the model, software version, region, and app availability, so follow the wording shown on your TV. See TCL’s Google/Android TV app guidance.

Remove an app on TCL Roku TV
- Press Home on the Roku remote.
- Highlight the app on the screen.
- Open its options menu.
- Highlight Remove app and confirm. Confirm again if prompted.
Account effect: TCL warns that removing an app from a TCL Roku TV also removes it from other streaming devices associated with the same Roku account. Check that account-wide effect before proceeding. TCL’s Roku app-removal instructions provide the steps.
Hide or tidy an app without uninstalling it
Changing the home screen is not the same as deleting an app. On Google TV, Apps Only mode changes the home-screen experience but does not remove installed apps. Turning off an app’s notifications can also stop it appearing in the Home screen’s top row; that changes its visibility there, not its installation status. - Restart the TV.
- Find and reinstall the app from the Streaming Store.
A factory reset is not the usual way to remove one app. TCL lists it as a last resort for broader troubleshooting because it removes downloaded apps, account sign-ins, settings, and preferences. See TCL’s Roku TV app troubleshooting guidance.
