To remove a header from page two onward while keeping it on page one, start a new section on page two, unlink that section’s header from the previous one, then remove the header. If you want the header blank only on page two, add another section break after page two so later pages can have their own header.
Remove the header from page two onward

Click at the beginning of page two.

Choose Layout > Breaks > Next Page to start a new section. A section break is needed because a page break alone does not give the pages independent header settings. If a page break already separates page one and page two, replace it with the section break for this workflow.

Double-click the header area on page two to open the Header & Footer controls.

Turn off Link to Previous. Word links headers between sections by default; unlinking the new section prevents changes to its header from changing the one on page one.

Choose Header > Remove Header, then close Header and Footer or press Esc.
The removed header applies to page two and later pages in that section. Microsoft’s instructions cover Word for Microsoft 365 and recent desktop versions; labels and available controls can vary by platform. Microsoft Support: Change or delete a header or footer on a single page.

Leave the header blank only on page two
Make page two its own section: after creating the section break before it, add another Layout > Breaks > Next Page break at the end of page two. On page two, turn off Link to Previous before removing its header. In the following section, unlink the header as needed and restore or customize it. Each section’s header can be linked independently, so check the following section rather than assuming its header will be preserved automatically. If the page without a header is the first page of a section, enable Different First Page in the Header & Footer controls instead. This setting can apply to the first page of any section, not only the document’s first page. Microsoft Support: Different first page headers and footers.

Change the footer separately
Headers and footers have separate linking settings. Removing or unlinking a header does not automatically change the footer; repeat the relevant section and unlinking steps in the footer area if you also want to change it. Microsoft Support: Link to Previous headers and footers.
