To “delete” a Google account from a Samsung Galaxy, most people mean removing it from that phone. Go to Settings > Accounts and backup > Manage accounts, select the account, tap Remove account, then confirm. This signs the account out on that device; it does not permanently delete the Google Account.
Remove a Google Account from a Galaxy phone or tablet
- Open Settings.
- Tap Accounts and backup.
- Tap Manage accounts.
- Select the Google Account you want to remove.
- Tap Remove account, then tap Remove account again to confirm.
Samsung says the available screens and settings can vary by device, software version, and wireless service provider. Removing the Google Account from a Galaxy affects that device: the account is signed out there, and associated information such as email, contacts, and settings is removed from the phone. It does not mean that online account content has been permanently erased. Samsung says you can add the account to the device again later.

Security checks you may see
Your phone may ask you to verify your identity before removing the account. Depending on your setup, that can mean entering a PIN, pattern, or password; Google says a screen-lock credential is needed if this is the device’s only Google Account. Samsung also notes that Google device protection or, in some cases, Advanced Protection may trigger verification. The prompt is not guaranteed to appear for every user.
Before giving away or disposing of the Galaxy
Removing a Google Account is not a factory reset and does not, by itself, clear all personal data and applications from the phone. If you are handing off or discarding the device, Google recommends clearing its data and apps; the reset process varies by device. A Samsung factory reset erases personal data stored on the device, and Factory Reset Protection may require Google Account credentials after the reset. Follow Google’s device-data removal guidance and Samsung’s reset instructions for your specific model.
