The clearest difference is camera reach: Nothing specifies a 3.5× optical-zoom periscope camera, while Xiaomi lists a 200MP stabilized main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide. Xiaomi’s India specifications also give it a larger battery and a 100W in-box charger. There is no reliable single price gap to quote from the available figures: Xiaomi’s specification page is for India, while the observed Nothing price is from the UK.
How the specifications compare
The figures below are manufacturer specifications for different regional listings, not results from an independent head-to-head test. Xiaomi’s details are from its India page; the Nothing price and capacity information are from UK product material.

| Feature | Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G (Xiaomi India) | Nothing Phone (4a) |
|---|---|---|
| Processor and configurations | Snapdragon 7s Gen 4; 8GB+256GB, 12GB+256GB, or 12GB+512GB. Usable storage is lower than the nominal total because software occupies space. | The captured official material does not state a comparable processor. The UK product page showed an 8GB/128GB selection. |
| Display | 6.83-inch CrystalRes AMOLED, 2772 × 1280, up to 120Hz; Xiaomi lists 3200-nit peak brightness, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and Gorilla Glass Victus 2. | A sufficiently complete comparable display specification was not established in the captured official material. |
| Rear cameras | 200MP OIS main camera (f/1.7, 1/1.4-inch sensor) and 8MP ultra-wide; listed rear video includes 4K at 30fps. | Three-camera system; Nothing specifies a 50MP OIS periscope camera with 3.5× optical zoom and advertises up to 70× ultra zoom. |
| Front camera | 32MP, according to Xiaomi. | Not stated in the captured official material. |
| Battery and charging | 6500mAh typical capacity; Xiaomi lists a 100W charger in the India package. | Nothing’s official material lists 5080mAh. A comparable charging figure was not established. |
| Software and resistance | Xiaomi lists HyperOS 3 and IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for this regional model. | Not stated in the captured official material. |
| Observed price | No comparable current India price is established by the cited specification page. | £379 on Nothing’s UK product page when accessed, for the 8GB/128GB selection; this is a dated regional listing, not a guaranteed current price. |

Which phone has optical zoom?
Nothing specifies a dedicated 50MP OIS periscope camera with 3.5× optical zoom. Optical zoom uses the camera system’s optics; it is distinct from the phone’s advertised maximum of 70× ultra zoom, which is not an equivalent optical-zoom range. Nothing describes the camera as using a tetraprism system, but that description is manufacturer marketing, not an independent test.

Xiaomi’s India specification page instead lists a 200MP OIS main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. It does not list a dedicated telephoto or periscope camera. That makes Nothing the more clearly specified choice for photographing distant subjects, but the available specifications do not establish which phone produces better photos overall. Megapixel count alone cannot settle image quality, and no controlled comparison is available here.
What do the battery and charging figures mean?
Xiaomi lists a 6500mAh typical battery and a 100W charger in the box for the India model. Nothing lists a 5080mAh battery, but the captured material does not establish a directly comparable charging specification. These are capacity and package specifications—not measured battery endurance or charging times. Actual results depend on usage and conditions.
What does the display comparison establish?
Xiaomi specifies a 6.83-inch, 2772 × 1280 AMOLED display with a refresh rate up to 120Hz. It also lists 3200-nit peak brightness, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Those are manufacturer-listed attributes, not independently measured results. The official Nothing material captured for this comparison does not provide a complete matching display specification, so it is not enough to declare one screen brighter or better.
What should buyers know about durability and regional variants?
Xiaomi lists IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K resistance ratings for the cited India model, but says the ratings apply under specific laboratory conditions. They should not be read as a guarantee against every kind of water or dust exposure, or as proof that water damage is covered in all circumstances. Xiaomi’s India package list includes a protective case, adapter, USB Type-C cable, SIM tool, quick-start guide, and warranty card; package contents may differ by market.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What is the price difference?
The available figures do not support a valid same-market price difference. Nothing’s UK page showed £379 for an 8GB/128GB selection when accessed, but that is a dated observation. Xiaomi’s cited page provides India specifications and storage configurations, not a matching current UK quote. Comparing those figures would mix markets and configurations rather than reveal which phone costs more.
To calculate a useful price gap, compare current authorized-retailer prices in the same country for matching storage tiers, and treat taxes and discounts consistently. Xiaomi’s cited India variants are 8GB+256GB, 12GB+256GB, and 12GB+512GB; the observed Nothing UK selection is 8GB/128GB, so it is not a like-for-like configuration.
Which one fits your priorities?
- Choose Nothing for the stated optical-zoom hardware: its specified 3.5× optical periscope zoom is the clearest advantage for distant subjects.
- Consider Xiaomi if its listed display, battery, charging, or bundle matters more: its India specifications give exact figures for those areas, including the 6500mAh typical capacity and 100W in-box charger.
- Decide on price only after checking local listings: use the same country and comparable storage, and verify the specific SKU, seller, taxes, and discount.
Neither specification sheet establishes a universal winner. The right choice depends on whether optical zoom or Xiaomi’s listed battery, display, and included charging hardware matters more to you, as well as the actual prices and variants available where you live.
