Display and design: the Note 15 5G is bigger and lighter
Xiaomi lists a 6.77-inch AMOLED panel for the Note 15 5G and a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel for the Note 12 Pro 5G; both support refresh rates up to 120Hz. Their listed resolutions are close, so the key specification difference is screen size rather than a major resolution increase. The Note 15 is also listed as 10g lighter and thinner, but one millimetre taller.

Cameras: OIS versus a 108MP main camera
The Note 12 Pro 5G has a 50MP Sony IMX766 main camera with OIS, alongside an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro camera. The Note 15 5G lists a 108MP main camera and an 8MP ultrawide, without a macro camera in the cited specification. Its front camera is listed at 20MP versus 16MP on the older phone.

These specifications do not establish which phone takes better photos or selfies. Megapixel count alone is not a quality ranking, and Xiaomi’s Note 15 specifications do not list OIS for its main camera. If stabilisation is an important requirement, the Note 12 Pro’s explicitly listed OIS is the clearer documented distinction.
Battery and charging: capacity is not charge time
Xiaomi lists a typical 5,520mAh battery and 45W charging for the Note 15 5G, compared with 5,000mAh and 67W for the Note 12 Pro 5G. The newer model therefore has greater stated capacity, while the older model has the higher rated charging wattage. Neither figure by itself proves longer everyday battery life or a particular charging time.

Storage and SIM trade-off
The Note 15 5G India listing offers 8GB/128GB or 8GB/256GB storage and supports microSD cards up to 1TB through a hybrid SIM slot. A card may use the slot otherwise needed for a SIM, so check the arrangement against your dual-SIM needs. The Note 12 Pro 5G is listed in 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB configurations.

Software and support
The specification pages list MIUI 13 with Android 12 for the Note 12 Pro 5G and Xiaomi HyperOS 3 for the Note 15 5G. Software versions can change with updates and region. Xiaomi’s Note 12 Pro page states two years of software updates and four years of security updates, but that does not establish how much support remains now; check Xiaomi’s current support information for the exact device before buying on longevity grounds.

Network bands and protection
Check the supported 5G bands against your carrier and country before importing or buying either device; the Note 15 band listing cited here is for India. Xiaomi describes the Note 15 5G’s IP65 and IP66 protection under specified laboratory conditions. Those ratings should not be read as a claim that the phone is waterproof.
Price difference: compare live prices, not mismatched snapshots
There is no dependable single current price gap for these phones. On a comparison-page snapshot accessed on 4 October 2026, 91mobiles displayed ₹25,599 for the Note 12 Pro 5G and ₹28,999 for the Note 15, a displayed difference of ₹3,400. That price line does not establish that the configurations match or that either amount is available at checkout. Smartprix also displayed ₹25,599 and ₹28,999 as lowest-price figures and said its details were last updated on 17 September 2026; these are comparison-site values, not guaranteed offers.

For context, Android Central reported India launch prices of ₹22,999 for the entry Note 15 5G option and ₹24,999 for the 8GB/256GB option. These are historical launch prices, not current prices. To judge value, compare the same storage capacity from the same seller at the same time, and account for any verified bank or exchange offer.
Which phone should you choose?
Choose the Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G if…
- You want a main camera with OIS explicitly listed by Xiaomi.
- You prioritise a higher rated charging speed: 67W rather than 45W.
- You find a suitable configuration materially cheaper and the phone is in good condition.
Choose the Redmi Note 15 5G if…
- You prefer the larger 6.77-inch display and a lighter, thinner listed body.
- You value its larger stated 5,520mAh battery capacity.
- You need microSD expansion up to 1TB and can accommodate the hybrid SIM slot.
This is a specification-based comparison, not a claim from hands-on camera, battery or performance testing. Processor clock speeds alone do not establish which phone is faster. Check the current software version, local 5G-band compatibility and like-for-like price before deciding.
