Reddit plans to stop serving RSS feeds on November 13, 2026. If you follow subreddits in an RSS reader, those feeds will stop receiving new Reddit posts after the cutoff. Reddit says it has no replacement for feeds outside communities a person moderates; its suggested Discord Relay option is for common moderator alerts, not ordinary subreddit subscriptions.
What changes on November 13
Reddit announced the cutoff in its September 30, 2026, r/modnews infrastructure update. The company says it will stop supporting RSS feeds on November 13, 2026. It gives no exact shutdown time and does not promise a transition or grace period.

This is a change to Reddit’s feed service, not a change limited to a particular reader. Inoreader says its existing Reddit feeds will continue to receive updates while Reddit serves them; after Reddit stops, Inoreader will no longer be able to retrieve new posts through those feeds. Switching to another RSS reader will not restore a feed Reddit no longer provides. Inoreader’s October 1 explanation says the availability change affects Reddit RSS feeds across apps.

What the Discord Relay option does—and does not do
Reddit recommends Devvit apps such as Discord Relay for common alerts in communities a person moderates. That is a moderation workflow, not a general-purpose RSS replacement for following subreddits in a reader. Reddit’s announcement does not say that Discord Relay reproduces every custom moderation workflow.

| Use case | Reddit’s stated path | What it does not preserve |
|---|---|---|
| Moderator alerts for a community you moderate | Review your current setup and migrate before November 13. Reddit recommends Devvit apps such as Discord Relay for common moderator alerts. | The announcement does not describe it as a universal feed reader or promise support for every custom workflow. |
| Following communities in an RSS reader, including communities you do not moderate | Reddit says there is no replacement for feeds outside communities you moderate. | No official alternative for these reader subscriptions is identified in the announcement. |
Why Reddit says it is retiring RSS
Reddit says RSS has become “a common surface for large-scale scraping and automated abuse,” and says it will preserve moderation workflows through supported alternatives. That is Reddit’s stated rationale; its announcement does not quantify the scraping or abuse. No topic-specific figure for Reddit RSS usage or the volume of scraping is supplied in the sources cited here.
RSS and Reddit’s public API have different timelines
The November 13, 2026 date is for RSS support. Separately, TechCrunch’s September 30 report says public API access is scheduled to end by March 2027. The API date is not the RSS cutoff, and the two changes should not be treated as the same shutdown.
