Red Dead Redemption 2 lets you play through an outlaw story in an open-world version of the historical American West. What Red Dead Redemption 2 offers
RDR2 builds its story around Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang, on the run after a robbery goes wrong in Blackwater. Its frontier is a fictionalized version of the historical American West, not outer space. The open-world structure gives the player control over travel, missions, interactions and gunfights rather than making the audience a spectator.

What Firefly offers
Disney+ describes Firefly as a science-fiction Western set in 2517, in the aftermath of a universal civil war. Its central characters are the renegade crew of a small transport spaceship, led by Captain Malcolm “Mal” Reynolds. The crew travels through space in a future where Earth’s resources have diminished, taking on jobs and facing trouble together.
Because Firefly is a television series, the viewer follows the crew rather than controlling a character or choosing how to approach missions. The Western connection comes through its frontier setting and outlaw-crew premise, while the spaceship and future conflict make it science fiction.

A particular game or series in that category may differ in plot, tone, pacing and visual style; the comparison here concerns the original series’ premise and the general appeal of its space-frontier setup, not a claim that every inspired work is alike.
