Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf a Gmail message is still in Trash, you can restore it within 30 days of deletion. If Trash was emptied or that period has passed, the next step depends on whether the account is personal Gmail or managed by a Google Workspace organization: personal-account recovery is generally unavailable through Gmail, while a Workspace administrator gets an additional 25 days to restore deleted mail. Google’s Message Recovery Tool is intended for messages that may have been deleted through unauthorized account access, not a guaranteed fix for every case.
First check whether the message is actually gone
A message that seems deleted may have been moved rather than permanently removed. Search Gmail with the scope set to include Mail, Spam, and Trash. Narrow the search with the sender, subject, distinctive words, or an approximate date.

If you find it, check whether a filter moved or deleted it. Also consider whether forwarding, POP or IMAP settings, or another email app connected to the account affected the message. Google’s guidance on finding missing messages is available in Find missing Gmail messages.

If the message is still in Trash
Gmail keeps messages in Trash for 30 days. During that period, you can move a message back to your inbox or another folder.

Personal Gmail account
For a personal Gmail account, Google says messages permanently deleted by emptying Trash or letting the 30-day period expire cannot be recovered through the normal Gmail Trash process. Do not assume that a recovery utility can retrieve mail deleted from Google’s servers.

Possible unauthorized access
If you think someone accessed your account without permission and deleted messages, sign in and try Google’s Gmail Message Recovery Tool. Google describes this tool for messages that may have been deleted because of unauthorized access. It is not a general guarantee that permanently deleted mail can be restored.
Google Workspace account managed by an organization
Contact your organization’s Google Workspace administrator as soon as possible. An administrator can use the Admin console’s Restore data option to restore Gmail data for up to 25 additional days after the 30-day Trash period. That extra window is counted after the time in Trash, not from the message’s sent or received date. The restore action requires administrator access; see Google’s Restore a user’s permanently deleted email.

When Google Vault may help
For an organization-managed account, ask whether Google Vault retention rules or a hold covered the message. If so, a Vault user with appropriate access may be able to search for and export preserved mail. This depends on the organization’s existing retention setup; Vault is not a direct tool for putting exported messages back into the user’s Gmail account.
Google notes that Vault may allow retrieval beyond the administrator’s additional 25-day restore period when the organization uses Vault. See Search Gmail messages in Google Vault and Export data from Vault.
