On the headline specifications, realme lists a faster-refreshing display and higher-resolution cameras; Xiaomi lists a larger battery and lower price. Those figures do not establish which phone takes better photos, runs faster, or lasts longer in everyday use.
Price difference in India
The 91mobiles comparison page lists the realme 16 Pro at ₹44,999 and the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G at ₹36,999, a difference of ₹8,000. These are page-listed prices, not guaranteed checkout prices. The comparison does not establish that the figures apply to equivalent RAM and storage configurations, and prices can change with seller and promotion. How the displays differ
Xiaomi lists a slightly larger 6.83-inch panel, while realme lists the higher refresh rate at 144Hz versus 120Hz. A higher refresh-rate figure describes how often the display can refresh, but it does not by itself prove that scrolling or gaming will feel better in every situation. Panel tuning, supported content, software, and the task also matter. The available specifications do not provide a controlled viewing-quality comparison.
Xiaomi additionally lists a 2772 × 1280 resolution and peak brightness up to 3500 nits. Peak brightness is a manufacturer specification, not a guarantee of sustained brightness in all conditions.

Camera specifications are not image-quality results
Realme lists a 200MP main rear camera and a 50MP selfie camera; Xiaomi lists a 50MP main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 16MP front camera. Both manufacturers list optical image stabilization (OIS) for the main rear camera, and both list an 8MP ultrawide.
Megapixel counts describe image resolution, not the overall quality of a photograph. Sensor characteristics, image processing, lens performance, and shooting conditions all affect results. No comparable camera test establishes which phone takes better photos or selfies, so the listed resolutions alone are not a sound basis for calling a camera winner.

Battery capacity and charging
Xiaomi lists a 9000mAh typical battery, compared with realme’s 7000mAh, while realme lists faster-rated charging at 80W versus Xiaomi’s 67W. Capacity and charging ratings do not establish actual screen-on time or charging duration. Those depend on usage, software, temperature, charger and cable, and other conditions; no head-to-head endurance or charging test is available here.
Processors and software
The realme uses a MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Max 5G, and Xiaomi lists a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 4. Chip names alone do not determine everyday responsiveness or sustained gaming performance, which can also depend on cooling, software, and device configuration.

The official India pages promote realme UI 7.0 and HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, respectively. These listings do not establish how many years of software or security updates either phone will receive. Check the manufacturer’s current support terms for the specific market before treating update duration as a buying factor.

Xiaomi’s India specifications page says the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G package includes a charger and protective case, while cautioning that contents may vary by market. Confirm the contents on the exact regional listing. The cited realme page does not establish box contents for every market.
Which one should you choose?
- Consider the realme 16 Pro 5G if its listed 144Hz display, 200MP main camera, 50MP front camera, or 80W charging are priorities for you—and the current price for your preferred configuration makes sense.
- Consider the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G if the lower page-listed India price, larger stated battery capacity, slightly larger display, or Xiaomi’s listed package contents better fit your needs.
- Compare the exact variants before deciding. The listed price gap does not prove that the two prices correspond to the same memory and storage tier. Also check local stock, warranty, network-band compatibility, and included accessories.
Neither specification sheet settles camera quality, real-world performance, or battery endurance. Treat those as open questions rather than choosing a winner from headline numbers alone.
