Install Reach For The Skies – A Create Experience! release 1.0.4 with Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge. Use the normal client ZIP in a launcher that supports CurseForge imports, and use the separate 1.0.4 SERVERPACK ZIP for a dedicated server. Every client and the server must use the same Minecraft version, loader, and pack release.
Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
What Reach For The Skies is
Reach For The Skies is a CurseForge modpack built around the Create automation system. Create provides the central engineering and factory gameplay, while the pack expands that foundation with Create addons, decorative building mods, exploration content, side quests, new mobs, and additional animals. Its project categories include exploration, multiplayer, quests, technology, and Vanilla+.

That combination makes the pack suitable for several play styles. You can build a mechanical production line, explore for resources and structures, decorate a base, or follow quests for guided objectives. None of those paths requires completing the entire quest system for ordinary survival play.
Version, loader, and files to download
| Item | Required value | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Pack release | 1.0.4 | Client and server content must match. |
| Minecraft | 1.21.1 | The researched 1.0.4 files target this game version. |
| Mod loader | NeoForge | The pack is built for NeoForge, not another loader. |
| Client download | The 1.0.4 client ZIP | Import this file into your modpack launcher. |
| Dedicated server download | The separate “1.0.4 SERVERPACK” ZIP | Use this package as the starting point for a server. |
| Release date | June 11, 2026 | This is the upload date recorded on the 1.0.4 release page. |
The official project files index is the authority for the current downloads and compatibility metadata. Do not select a similarly named older ZIP just because it appears in a launcher’s search results. A server pack is not a replacement for the client pack, and a client ZIP is not the dedicated-server package.

Install the client
You need a launcher that can import a CurseForge modpack ZIP. The exact button names vary, but the process is the same: import the client archive, let the launcher create an instance, and verify the generated profile before starting the game.
- Confirm the release. On the official files list, select release 1.0.4 and choose the ordinary client ZIP. Do not choose the file labeled “SERVERPACK.”
- Open your launcher’s import function. Choose the option for importing an existing modpack or ZIP archive, then select the downloaded 1.0.4 client file.
- Check the generated profile. Open the instance settings and confirm that Minecraft is 1.21.1 and the mod loader is NeoForge. If the launcher proposes another version, stop and correct the profile before launching.
- Keep the instance intact. Let the launcher install the pack’s listed mods and configuration files. Removing or replacing files can produce a client that no longer matches the release.
- Launch once in single-player. A first launch lets the game create its configuration and resource files. If it reaches the title screen, close it and review the keybinds before joining a shared world.
- Match every player. Give each player the same 1.0.4 client release, Minecraft 1.21.1, and NeoForge profile. Mixing releases is a common cause of missing-mod or incompatible-version errors.
If your launcher offers both a platform-specific installer and a ZIP importer, use the method it documents for CurseForge packs. The important result is a profile that reports the three matching values above; the launcher brand and its visual layout are secondary.

First-launch checks
- Verify the title-screen or instance information identifies Minecraft 1.21.1.
- Verify NeoForge is the active loader.
- Confirm the installed pack is 1.0.4 rather than an automatically selected update.
- Open Controls and look for conflicts before entering a multiplayer world.
- Create a test world and check that Create blocks, machines, and the quest interface load without missing-content errors.
Set up a dedicated server
The official 1.0.4 server-pack ZIP is the multiplayer starting point. The public project pages confirm that this package exists, but they do not publish a complete RAM baseline, port checklist, or universal launch command. Those details can vary with the package revision and hosting environment, so use the start instructions included inside the server archive or the author’s current documentation rather than copying a command from an unrelated NeoForge server.

- Download the exact server package. Select the file named “1.0.4 SERVERPACK” from the official files index. Check that it is associated with Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge.
- Extract it into a new server directory. Use a clean folder dedicated to this installation. Do not unpack it over an older Reach For The Skies server, because leftover mods or configuration files can create a version mismatch.
- Read the included instructions before launching. Locate the package’s README, start script, or loader instructions. Follow the supplied order for first launch, account acceptance, and configuration. The project page itself does not specify a one-size-fits-all command.
- Complete the initial server setup. Start the server by the method supplied with the archive, wait for it to finish creating its files, and apply any required agreement or settings exactly as the package documents them.
- Configure the world and access settings. Change world, difficulty, operator, and access options only after the base installation starts successfully. Keep a copy of the original configuration so you can restore it if a change prevents startup.
- Arrange network access. Follow the instructions for your operating system, router, firewall, or hosting panel. The public pack listing does not provide a universal port checklist, so verify the required network values in the current server documentation.
- Test locally first. Join from a client using the same 1.0.4 pack, Minecraft 1.21.1, and NeoForge. Test a fresh world, a Create machine, the quest screen, and any planned voice or map features before inviting other players.
- Record the working setup. Save the package version, configuration changes, start method, and backup location. This makes a later update or recovery repeatable.
Server and client matching checklist
- Both sides use release 1.0.4.
- Both sides target Minecraft 1.21.1.
- Both sides use NeoForge.
- The server was built from the dedicated server-pack ZIP, not the client ZIP.
- Clients have not removed or added mods compared with the pack release.
- Any configuration files required by the server package are present and readable.
If the server fails before producing a usable log, return to the package’s supplied start instructions and verify that the archive was extracted completely. If it starts but rejects a player, compare the player’s profile against the three required version values before changing server files.
Managed hosting versus self-hosting
A managed Minecraft host can be convenient when its control panel offers a one-click installation for this exact pack. Self-hosting gives you direct access to files and network settings but leaves installation, updates, backups, hardware capacity, and troubleshooting to you. Confirm that any provider supports the 1.0.4 Minecraft 1.21.1 NeoForge server pack specifically; generic modded-Minecraft support is not enough.
| Decision factor | Self-hosted server | Managed server |
|---|---|---|
| Installation | Download and extract the official server ZIP, then follow its included instructions. | May offer a one-click modpack installer; confirm that it lists the exact 1.0.4 pack. |
| Control | Direct control of files, configuration, start method, and updates. | Control depends on the panel and the provider’s file access. |
| Version management | You choose when to replace the server pack and must keep clients aligned. | The panel may simplify deployment, but you still need to select the matching release. |
| Backups | You must create and verify your own world and configuration backups. | Backup tools may be included; retention and restore limits depend on the plan. |
| Player capacity | Limited by the machine and network resources you control; no official baseline is published for this pack. | Limited by the selected plan; advertised capacity should be treated as provider-specific. |
| Latency | Depends on the location and network of your machine. | Choose a data-center region close to most players. |
| Support | You diagnose loader, files, networking, and world issues yourself. | Support scope varies; verify that modpack and NeoForge issues are covered. |
| Price | Uses your existing hardware and connection, but may involve electricity or network costs. | Recurring price, limits, and terms vary by provider and are not established by the project listing. |
| Exact-pack compatibility | Guaranteed only when you use the official 1.0.4 server package correctly. | Ask for confirmation of the exact Minecraft 1.21.1 NeoForge pack before paying. |
Choose self-hosting when you are comfortable reading the package instructions, maintaining backups, and handling network access. Choose a managed option when a provider explicitly lists this release and you value a guided installer and panel-based operations. In either case, keep a local copy of the server ZIP and world backups.

How progression and quests work
Quests are optional for normal play. You can build, explore, and automate without completing a questline. They are useful as a structured route through the pack, especially for players learning Create or joining a shared server with agreed milestones.
Completing an entire questline can award Creation Tokens. The project describes these tokens as a way to obtain useful items including a Nature’s Compass, Explorer’s Compass, and waystones. Treat the reward as a progression incentive rather than a requirement for accessing the core automation systems.
A quest labeled OPTIONAL does not necessarily mean it can be skipped if your goal is 100-percent completion of that questline. Read the quest’s placement and completion requirements before ignoring it, particularly when planning a cooperative checklist.

A practical quest strategy
- Open the quest interface after the first launch and identify the main Create and exploration branches.
- Use the early tasks to learn which materials and machines the pack expects before building a large factory.
- Mark optional tasks that matter to your group, such as compass or waystone rewards.
- Claim rewards as you complete a branch and note which Creation Tokens remain unspent.
- If pursuing a complete questline, include every task marked OPTIONAL until the line reports completion.
Default keybinds and conflict fixes
The project lists these default controls:
| Key | Function |
|---|---|
| Y | Teams GUI |
| V | Voice chat |
| B | Backpacks |
| M | Map |
| N | Notes |
These defaults can collide with controls from other mods, accessibility software, or your existing Minecraft profile. Open the game’s Controls screen, search by function, and assign an unused key when the interface reports a conflict. Check each player’s profile separately; a key that is free for one person may already be used by another keyboard layout or mod setting.

| Updated The Beyond | Updates that component as part of the 1.0.4 release. |

If you are upgrading from an earlier client, make a backup of important worlds and check the release notes before opening them. On a shared server, upgrade the server and every client together; do not let some players remain on an earlier pack while others move to 1.0.4.
Troubleshooting common installation problems
The launcher says the pack is incompatible
Open the instance metadata and compare Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge, and pack release 1.0.4. If any value differs, recreate the instance from the official 1.0.4 client ZIP instead of manually changing individual mods.
The server starts, but players cannot join
First compare the player’s client profile with the server’s release, game version, and loader. If those match, inspect the server package instructions and your network configuration. The project pages do not define a universal port or firewall procedure, so use the current instructions for your operating system or host rather than assuming a value.
The server contains missing or duplicate content
Stop the server, move the existing installation aside, and extract a fresh copy of the official 1.0.4 SERVERPACK. Restore only the world and deliberately reviewed configuration files. This removes leftovers from another release without destroying your backup.
A key does nothing or opens two screens
Open Controls, search for the affected function, and resolve the conflict shown by the game. Pay particular attention to Y, V, B, M, and N because they are assigned by default in this pack.
A quest will not accept the item shown in its text
Confirm that the server and clients are on 1.0.4. The release corrected a quest that required wild hemp when it should have required normal hemp. On 1.0.4, submit the item specified by the corrected quest and avoid copying an older walkthrough’s requirement.
Recommended rollout for a new group
- Choose one person to own the server files and backups.
- Download and archive the 1.0.4 client ZIP and 1.0.4 SERVERPACK ZIP.
- Set up the server in a clean directory by following the included loader and start instructions.
- Have one test player connect with a freshly imported 1.0.4 client.
- Resolve startup, network, and keybind issues before adding the rest of the group.
- Publish the exact release, Minecraft version, loader, server address, and any agreed quest goals to players.
- Back up the world and configuration before upgrades or major factory changes.
This process keeps the technical baseline stable while players decide how much of the quest content to pursue. It also separates pack problems from ordinary gameplay questions, making later support easier.
