As of October 5, 2026, the navigation update was broadly available through the Meta AI app; the v129 audio controls were still beginning to roll out.

How the new audio controls work
Mono Audio
Mono Audio combines the left and right audio channels so the same sound plays through both sides. It is intended to help when stereo separation makes audio harder to hear.

Audio Balance shifts sound toward the left or right speaker. Both controls apply to sounds the glasses produce, including Meta AI responses and notifications.

To look for them, open the Meta AI app and go to Device settings → Audio → Accessibility. The reported path is for the settings on the glasses; availability may vary during the v129 rollout.
How to get walking directions on the glasses
The v128 navigation feature is for walking directions, not visual directions displayed in a lens. The glasses use the phone’s location. You can start a route in either of these ways:

- Ask by voice: Say a request such as “Hey Meta, navigate to Times Square.”
- Share a destination: In a phone mapping app, share the destination and choose Meta AI.
For a destination that is too far to walk, the report says a notification with driving directions is sent to the phone.
Check the app for your glasses’ availability
The October 5 report does not list eligible glasses generations or provide a complete regional availability list for v128 or v129. It therefore does not establish that every model or market has these features. Check the Meta AI app for software updates and your device settings for the new audio options; rollout timing can differ between navigation and audio controls.

Do not confuse Ray-Ban Meta glasses with Meta Ray-Ban Display
The October update concerns displayless Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses and audio-based walking directions. Meta Ray-Ban Display is a separate product with an in-lens display and different announced navigation capabilities. Meta said voice requests could show turn-by-turn cycling directions or real-time public-transit departures on the display, initially starting later in September 2026 in the US and Canada. Meta also described Display walking prompts that refer to visible landmarks. Those visual directions are not features described for the displayless glasses in the v128/v129 report. Meta separately announced new products in September 2026, but the software-update report does not say that owners need to buy new glasses to get v128 or v129 features.

Meta’s product announcement provides the specifications and availability details; EssilorLuxottica’s announcement identifies the line as camera-free.
