The iPhone Duo’s 256GB model is listed at very different prices around the world. In a Visual Capitalist ranking of 23 countries, with local prices converted to U.S. dollars and dated October 2, 2026, Türkiye sits at the top at $4,689, while the United States is lowest at $1,999. That is a gap of about $2,690 between the two ends of the list, and it reflects sticker prices converted to one currency, not a measure of what the phone costs a given buyer relative to their income.
The ranking at a glance
The table below reproduces the prices shown by Visual Capitalist for the 256GB iPhone Duo, in USD, ranked from highest to lowest. Four markets (the Netherlands, Spain, France and the United Kingdom) show the same figure, so they share a position.

How the figures were produced
The ranking was published by Visual Capitalist on October 8, 2026. The graphic is credited to Harris Saleem, and the article and editing credit goes to Srijaa Chatterjee. Visual Capitalist attributes the underlying dataset to OpenTheRank and states that the prices reflect October 2, 2026. The article covers 23 selected countries, and it converts each local price to USD.
#1 Best Overall
- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
Several parts of the method are not visible in the article itself. The underlying OpenTheRank dataset is not linked, and the exchange-rate series and conversion method are not shown. Readers should therefore treat these numbers as a dated, secondary comparison: they are the values Visual Capitalist reports, not prices re-collected from each country’s Apple store, and they are not live prices. Any country-level figure you act on should be rechecked against the local Apple listing on the day you buy.
Some independent price pages also list iPhone Duo prices with selectable storage options. Those pages use different values and selections, so they cannot be used to confirm this 256GB, 23-country ranking.

What is behind the gaps
The article links the spread to three kinds of factor: tax and duty layers, currency movement, and regional pricing decisions. It does not quantify how much each one contributes to any market’s price, so the explanations below are the article’s reasoning rather than measured breakdowns.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Türkiye: taxes and a weaker lira
The article says Türkiye’s smartphone prices carry a 20% VAT and a special consumption tax, among other levies. It also notes that the depreciation of the Turkish lira against the U.S. dollar can inflate local prices once they are expressed in USD. Both points push the converted figure upward, and the article presents them as the main reasons Türkiye ranks first.
Rank #3

- Up to 26 hours video playback. USB C, Supports USB 2. Face ID
China: VAT and domestic competition
For China, the article reports $2,382 and says the displayed price includes 13% VAT. It also suggests that competition from domestic foldable-phone makers, such as Huawei and Xiaomi, may shape Apple’s pricing there. This is offered as a possible influence, not a documented cause.
Regional pricing and the United States
The U.S. figure of $1,999 is the lowest in the ranking. The article does not explain that position in detail, so the reason for the low U.S. number should not be assumed from the other examples.
Rank #4
- This pre-owned product is not Apple certified, but has been professionally inspected, tested and cleaned by Amazon-qualified suppliers.
- There will be no visible cosmetic imperfections when held at an arm’s length.
- This product is eligible for a replacement or refund within 90 days of receipt if you are not satisfied.
- Product may come in generic Box.
What the ranking does not tell you
- Affordability. The ranking does not adjust for take-home pay or local incomes. A high converted price in one country may still be easier to afford than a lower one elsewhere.
- Total cost of buying abroad. Shipping, destination duties, and any tax refund eligibility are not calculated. A lower sticker price can be erased by these charges.
- Warranty and compatibility. The article does not compare warranty coverage, carrier or network support, or region-specific model differences.
- A recommendation to import. The ranking describes prices. It does not suggest that buying in the lowest-priced market is the right choice for any reader.
How to compare prices for your own purchase
- Confirm the model and storage tier. This comparison covers the 256GB iPhone Duo only.
- Open the local Apple listing for the country in question and note whether the displayed price already includes VAT or sales tax.
- Check the exchange rate and date you use to convert the local price to your own currency, since the published USD figures use a conversion that the article does not show.
- If buying abroad, add shipping, import duties, and any local charges, then compare the landed total with the price you would pay at home.
- Check warranty coverage in the country where you will use the phone, along with carrier or network compatibility for your region.
- Weigh the final cost against local income and your own budget, which the ranking does not measure.
Use the ranking as a starting point for understanding why prices differ, and confirm any specific figure against the local listing before you decide.
