If Rainbow Six Siege crashes or will not launch on a Windows Insider Preview build, do not assume the preview is the cause. Ubisoft’s Siege-specific reference describes one historical case—Windows 10 Insider Preview build 10074 with BattlEye Driver Load Error 577—not a general incompatibility with current preview builds. Start by identifying the error, then verify game files and troubleshoot Ubisoft Anti-Cheat one step at a time.
Does Windows Insider Preview break Rainbow Six Siege?
Ubisoft’s BattlEye FAQ documents a specific older case: for BattlEye Driver Load Error 577, it says the system was most likely running stock Windows 10 Home or the pre-release Windows 10 Insider Preview build 10074, and advises checking for available Windows updates. That is a historical diagnosis tied to that error and build. It does not establish that current Windows Insider Preview releases generally cause Siege crashes.

Ubisoft notes that technical problems can have varied causes, including outdated system versions or a particular configuration. Record the exact Windows version and build, which launcher you use, and what happens: does the game close, hang, show an anti-cheat error, or fail before the menu? This helps distinguish an operating-system issue from damaged game files or an anti-cheat problem.

#1 Best Overall
- 1,200 in-game credits for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege.
- Use these credits in-game to purchase the newest Operators, uniforms, weapon skins, charms, and more!
- R6 Credit code will be delivered via email from Amazon and redeemed in the Ubisoft Connect launcher
- Verify the game files in your launcher. Use the file-verification option in Epic Games Launcher, Steam, or Ubisoft Connect PC, depending on where you installed Siege. Ubisoft says corrupted or missing dependency files can cause crashes or performance issues. Launch the game again after verification finishes.
- Repair Ubisoft Anti-Cheat if the crash persists. Open the game’s
Sentinelfolder and runUbisoftAntiCheatInstaller.exeas an administrator. Select Repair, then test the game. If repair does not resolve the issue, Ubisoft also documents reinstalling the anti-cheat component from that installer. - Check for a security-software block. If Windows Security is blocking the anti-cheat executable, Ubisoft recommends adding that executable to Windows Security exclusions. Make an exclusion only when blocking is the issue; do not turn off security protection as a routine troubleshooting step.
- For BattlEye Driver Load Error 577, check Windows updates. Ubisoft’s advice about Windows 10 build 10074 applies to that historical case. Check for updates if you see the same error, but do not treat that old build reference as a diagnosis for a modern Windows preview release.
If Siege still will not launch
Report the issue to Ubisoft with enough detail for someone else to reproduce it. Ubisoft’s help guidance asks for the steps that lead to the problem, what you expected to happen, how to reproduce it, any workaround, and images or video when useful. Include the Windows version/build, launcher, exact error text, and which troubleshooting steps you tried. A repeatable report is more useful than attributing the crash to preview status without evidence.
