There is no universally best pet in Ragnarok X: Next Generation: choose by the content you play, the pet’s documented effect, and the values shown in your current client. A pet suited to PvP defense may not help with a PvE damage goal, and Mistress’s Chaos Strike is specifically ineffective against Boss, MVP, and MINI targets. SP pets add attribute inheritance and passive Battle Skills, so rarity, slots, and duplicate skills also matter.
How to choose a pet for your build
Start with the activity and target you care about, then compare the pet’s effect with the job your character needs it to do. Official pet notices describe examples, not a complete current ranking; they do not establish a single best pet for every class or server.

- Choose the content: decide whether you are building for PvP, general PvE, or a specific target such as a Boss, MVP, or MINI.
- Identify the effect you need: compare damage, control, survivability, defensive mitigation, dodge, or attribute inheritance.
- Check the actual pet: inspect its quality, skill text, slot availability, and current displayed values in game. Do not assume old numerical guides reflect your server’s live version.
- Account for progression and acquisition: check the materials and duplicate-pet requirements for upgrades, then compare currently available capture, drop, or cage routes.
SP pets: inheritance, slots, and Battle Skills
The official Ragnarok X: Next Generation Server Maintenance & Version Update Notice dated September 3, 2026 describes Fantasy SP, Gold SP, and Purple SP pets. SP pets inherit a specified share of certain owner attributes; those inherited values update when the character’s stats change, and breakthrough star levels can increase the inheritance percentage. The notice says slot counts for Traits and Skills vary by rarity, so check the in-game display for the specific pet rather than assuming every SP pet has the same setup.

Each SP pet is obtained with one exclusive passive Battle Skill at level 1. The skill takes effect when its pet is assigned to an Active or Reserve slot. Skills with different names can operate together; if multiple pets have Battle Skills with the same name, only the highest-level copy takes effect. An SP Battle Skill cannot be forgotten or replaced, and designated breakthrough levels enhance it.
#1 Best Overall
- This Odin Sitting On A Throne Statue stands at 10.5" tall, 7.75" long and 5" deep approximately. It weighs about 3 pounds.
- This Odin Sitting On A Throne Statue is made of designer composite resin, hand painted and polished individually.
- Odin, is considered the chief god in Norse paganism. Homologous with the Anglo-Saxon Wōden, it is descended from Proto-Germanic *Wōđinaz. His name is related to óðr, meaning "fury, excitation", besides "mind", or "poetry". His role, like many of the Norse gods, is complex. He is associated with wisdom, war, battle, and death, and also magic, poetry, prophecy, victory, and the hunt. Odin had two wolf-dogs, named Gere (the greedy) and Freke (the voracious).
- Soda can placed next to the statue is not included with the listing. It is meant to provide size perspective of the item.
SP breakthrough
To break through an SP pet, meet its required level and provide regular breakthrough materials plus the specified number of pets with the same name and rarity. A successful breakthrough raises Star Lv. and resets the pet’s level to 1. Maximum Star Lv. and exact effects depend on rarity; use the current in-game details for those values.
What the documented pets do
| Pet | Documented role or effect | Quality and acquisition noted by official updates |
|---|---|---|
| Phreeoni | Neutral-Magic. Acid Rain is described as area poison magic damage over time with a slow; the cited notice gives no precise current damage or duration. | Purple, Orange, and Fantasy. Can come from defeating MVP Phreeoni or purchasing its Pet Cage at the Exchange Center. |
| Sasquatch | Neutral-Physical. The cited notice does not establish a full current numerical comparison. | White through Fantasy. Can be captured in the wilderness or obtained through its Exchange Center cage. |
| Mistress | Wind-Magic. Chaos Strike triggers on the owner’s next melee or ranged attack at intervals, deals True Damage based on target Max HP, and may inflict Armor Break. It is ineffective against Boss, MVP, and MINI targets. | Purple, Orange, and Fantasy. Can drop from MVP Mistress or be obtained from a cage at the Exchange Center. |
| Golem | Neutral-Physical. Petrified Skin raises the owner’s PvP Final Physical Damage Reduction or PvP Final Magic Damage Reduction when enemy players deal normal or skill damage; the effect depends on pet quality. | White through Fantasy. Can be captured in the wild or obtained through a Stone Golem cage. |
These descriptions come from official pet updates dated September 3, 2026, and related pet notices: SP pet system, Phreeoni and Sasquatch, and Mistress and Golem. The notices do not provide a complete current pet database, universal tier list, or precise current damage values for every skill.

For Boss, MVP, or MINI targets
Do not select Mistress on the assumption that Chaos Strike will damage these targets: the official notice explicitly says the effect is ineffective against Boss, MVP, and MINI. Compare other available effects using their live descriptions and values instead.
For PvP defense
Golem’s Petrified Skin is the clearest documented defensive example: its effect increases PvP Final Physical or Magic Damage Reduction when enemy players deal damage. Which reduction applies, and how strong it is, depends on pet quality. Check the version and quality displayed in your game.
For other kinds of utility
- Light of Finesse: listed for Orange and Purple qualities; raises the master’s Final Dodge for a limited number of successful dodges and a few seconds.
- Shadow of Silence: listed for Orange and Purple qualities; silences a target and later adds True Damage based on damage it received.
- Life Shield: listed for Orange quality; triggers below an HP threshold, dispels and raises PvP Debuff RES for a period, and negates damage during that period.
The cited notice does not state exact values for these skills. Treat their descriptions as role indicators, not enough information to rank them against one another.
Acquisition, cages, and changing availability
Official notices list different routes for different pets: wilderness capture, an MVP drop, or a pet cage purchased at an Exchange Center. A listed route does not guarantee a drop or establish that a cage is currently available on every server. Check the live in-game Exchange Center and current pet details before committing resources.
Marketplace rules can change. One official notice restricted Gold Pet Cage and Skill Book listings in the Diamond Auction House from August 24 through September 7, 2026, and said they would move to the Diamond Exchange Center. That period has ended; the notice does not prove current listings or prices. Verify where an item is offered in your client.
