Try low-risk checks first, and confirm which Quordle site you are using—Merriam-Webster’s official game and independent versions may behave differently.
Start with the symptom

If Quordle is blank or stuck loading

Reload the page. If it remains stuck, open another website. If other sites also fail, check your internet connection before changing Quordle settings.

Compare browsers or devices. Try the same Quordle address in a different browser, or on another device or network if available. If it works elsewhere, focus on the original browser or device. If it fails everywhere, that still does not confirm an outage; the site itself may be having a problem.

Check JavaScript and extensions. The surfaced Quordle app page at beta.quordle.com displays the message “You need to enable JavaScript to run this app.” If JavaScript is disabled, enable it for the site. A script blocker or other extension can also interfere: temporarily test with extensions disabled, then turn them back on one at a time if the page starts working.

Use browser-specific guidance for browser errors. Google Chrome Help lists device settings or software, network problems, browser issues such as cookies or extensions, and website issues as possible causes of loading failures. Its guidance is specific to Chrome; other browsers may use different labels and controls. See Chrome Help: Fix connection and loading errors.

If the game does not respond to typing

Click or tap inside the game area, then try a letter again. The page may be open without the puzzle having keyboard focus.

On a phone or tablet, try the game’s on-screen keyboard if one is available. This helps distinguish a focus or physical-keyboard issue from a page that is not responding at all.

If input still does nothing, reload the page and repeat the browser comparison above. A failure limited to one browser is a reason to inspect that browser’s extensions and settings, not to assume the keyboard is broken.
If Quordle rejects a word
An invalid-word message is different from typing that produces no response: the game has received the guess, but its accepted-word list may not include it. A word being valid English does not guarantee that every Quordle version accepts it.
The independent site quordle.uk says its word list can differ from the list used by Merriam-Webster’s official Quordle. Check the help or rules on the precise site and mode you are playing rather than assuming their accepted words are identical. See quordle.uk for that site’s explanation.
Protect your game and stats while troubleshooting
Reloading, focusing the game, and comparing browsers are safer first steps than clearing cookies or all site data. The quordle.uk troubleshooting guide warns that clearing data may erase stats or a game in progress stored locally on that independent site. Available information does not establish how every Quordle version saves progress, so do not assume its storage behavior applies to Merriam-Webster’s game or another version. If the basic checks do not narrow it down, contact the support channel provided by the specific game site. Include the exact URL, device and browser, what appears on screen, whether another browser or network works, and roughly when the issue began. Describe what you observed rather than reporting a confirmed outage unless the operator has verified one; no live outage status is established here.
