Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →No consumer cloud-storage service is established by the reviewed provider documentation as encrypting stored files with post-quantum cryptography. That means there is no evidence-backed “best” winner to recommend on that specific basis in 2026. Some services document post-quantum protection for network connections, but that does not show that stored files or their encryption keys receive the same protection.
What “quantum-resistant cloud storage” needs to mean
For a cloud-storage service to support this claim, its documentation needs to explain how post-quantum cryptography protects the files themselves or the keys used to encrypt them—not only the connection between an app and a server. It should identify the algorithms, which data and clients are covered, and how keys are created, held, shared and recovered.

The distinction matters because a service can use post-quantum key exchange for TLS while storing objects under a different encryption and key-management design. Likewise, “end-to-end encrypted,” “zero knowledge,” “encrypted at rest” and “NIST-aligned” do not, on their own, establish post-quantum protection for stored files.
What the published standards establish
NIST’s finalized post-quantum standards provide a useful benchmark for evaluating provider claims. FIPS 203 specifies ML-KEM, a key-encapsulation mechanism for establishing keys. FIPS 204 specifies ML-DSA, and FIPS 205 specifies SLH-DSA; both are digital-signature standards. NIST says the standards are ready to implement and advises organizations to begin migration. They do not, by themselves, certify a cloud-storage service or show how a provider uses them to protect files. See the NIST PQC overview and NIST’s migration FAQ.

What current provider documentation shows
| Service or provider | Documented scope | What that does—and does not—establish |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon S3 | AWS documents hybrid post-quantum key exchange for TLS requests to S3. | This is a network-connection feature, not evidence that S3 objects or their encryption keys use post-quantum protection at rest. Check the S3 PQ-TLS documentation for the current endpoint, region, client and protocol details. AWS also lists S3 hybrid PQ key exchange as launched on its PQ confidentiality readiness page. |
| Google Cloud | Google describes ML-KEM in hybrid mode for specified endpoints, including google.com and *.googleapis.com, as part of its infrastructure transition. | This describes selected endpoints and infrastructure, not post-quantum encryption of all files in a consumer storage product. See the Google Cloud PQC roadmap. |
| Cloudflare | Its documentation covers post-quantum work in an SSL/TLS context and ML-DSA support. | That is infrastructure and connection-security context, not proof that a consumer cloud-storage service protects stored files with post-quantum cryptography. See Cloudflare’s PQC documentation. |
| Proton Drive | Its security page describes end-to-end encryption and Curve25519 elliptic-curve cryptography for file security. | Those are privacy protections, but the reviewed Drive documentation does not establish post-quantum encryption of stored files. Proton announced post-quantum protection for Proton Mail on May 5, 2026; that announcement is about Mail and is not evidence that the feature applies to Drive. See Proton Drive’s security page and the Proton Mail announcement. |
These examples illustrate different layers, rather than a ranking of equivalent storage products. The reviewed official documentation does not establish a consumer cloud-storage service that documents post-quantum encryption of stored files.
How to evaluate a provider’s quantum-resistance claim
Look for specific answers to each of these questions before treating a service as quantum-resistant for file storage:

- Which layer is protected? Does the claim cover client-side file encryption, encryption at rest, TLS key exchange, backups and file versions, or metadata? A network feature alone is not file protection.
- Which algorithm is used? Look for the exact algorithm and parameter set, and whether the provider identifies a finalized standard such as ML-KEM in FIPS 203. Ask whether the design is hybrid or post-quantum-only.
- Who controls the file keys? Find out who creates and holds them, whether the provider can decrypt file contents, and what happens to encryption when you share files or recover an account.
- What data and users are covered? Check whether protection applies to new uploads or existing files, all apps or only selected clients and endpoints, and whether it is enabled by default or requires an opt-in.
- How does migration work? Look for supported platforms, steps for existing files, performance disclosures, independent audit evidence and a clear recovery process.
A useful provider answer should connect the algorithm to the actual file-encryption and key-management design. If it only says “quantum-safe TLS,” it is describing a connection, not demonstrating that stored files are quantum-resistant.

What to do if you need cloud storage now
Do not treat an infrastructure or TLS announcement as proof that a storage service protects files at rest with post-quantum cryptography. Choose a service based on the privacy, access controls, recovery options and security documentation you need today, and treat post-quantum file protection as unverified unless the provider documents it explicitly.

For sensitive files, prioritize a clearly described client-side or end-to-end encryption design and understand who can access the keys. That can address important privacy risks, but it is not a substitute for documented post-quantum algorithms. When providers publish file-specific PQ details, assess them against the scope, key-control and coverage questions above before migrating or relying on the claim.

This assessment is based on a bounded review of primary NIST and provider documentation, not an independent cryptographic audit or a complete census of the market. Provider implementations and supported endpoints can change, so verify current product-specific documentation before making a security decision. In particular, look for explicit statements about the algorithms, stored-file coverage, defaults, historical files, client support, key control and audit status.
