Proton VPN publishes a current privacy policy and an external no-logs audit; the available evidence does not establish that ProXPN currently operates a supported VPN service. That makes a definitive head-to-head verdict impossible. Before paying for ProXPN, verify that its VPN service is available and confirm its current app, privacy policy, support channel, and terms directly. For Proton VPN, treat no-logs claims as the provider’s stated policy—not a guarantee of anonymity.
Can you compare ProXPN and Proton VPN right now?
Not on equal terms. A useful VPN comparison needs verifiable details for both products: current availability, logging policy, audit scope, jurisdiction, supported devices, plan limits, and customer support. The available ProXPN-branded web pages and blog posts do not establish a currently supported VPN product or its current terms. Their presence alone is not proof that ProXPN VPN is operating. Check ProXPN’s site directly, but do not treat general VPN articles as service-status documentation.

That gap does not prove ProXPN has been discontinued, nor does it establish that the service is operating. It means a buyer should not rely on an old app listing, a search result, or an unverified offer as evidence of a supported service. Confirm the provider, product, payment path, and current terms before entering payment details.
What does Proton VPN say about logging?
Proton’s privacy policy says it does not log users’ traffic or the content of their communications. It also says the free VPN is covered by the same no-logs policy. These are Proton’s published commitments; a policy is not a guarantee that a user is anonymous or that every form of tracking is prevented.

A VPN changes which network operator can observe aspects of a connection. It does not, by itself, prevent websites, apps, or other parties from identifying a user through accounts, cookies, device identifiers, or other data. Everyday privacy still depends on the sites and apps used, device settings, and the information a person shares.
What does Proton’s no-logs audit establish?
Proton says its no-logs policy undergoes annual external review and describes its 2026 review as its fifth annual audit. Its audit announcement links to the 2026 report and attributes the review to Securitum. The report—not a broader interpretation of the announcement—is the source to consult for the systems examined, methods, qualifications, and findings.

An audit provides evidence about a defined review scope at a particular time. It should not be read as proof of every privacy claim a VPN provider might make, a guarantee about all future operations, or a claim that VPN use ensures anonymity.

How do Proton VPN’s free and paid plans differ on privacy?

Do not assume that matching privacy-policy language means the plans are otherwise identical. Verify the details relevant to your needs—such as device support, server choice, usage limits, and any feature restrictions—on the current plan page. The available evidence does not establish corresponding current ProXPN plan details for a direct comparison.
What should you verify before choosing either service?
- Availability: Confirm that the provider offers a current VPN service and that you can reach an authoritative signup and support channel.
- Privacy terms: Read the current logging policy and note which data it covers.
- Audit scope: Check the date, systems, and conclusions in the original report rather than relying only on an announcement.
- Device and app support: Confirm that your operating system and app version are supported. Proton publishes product lifecycle information with platform- and version-specific stages; check it for your device.
- Plan terms: Verify current prices, limits, included features, and renewal or refund terms on the provider’s own pages.
- Operational status: Check for maintenance notices that could affect the servers or configuration you use.
Does Proton VPN have a current service notice?
Proton’s status page listed a paid-server infrastructure upgrade campaign scheduled for August 31 through October 12, 2026, with temporary maintenance possible on some paid servers. The notice also directed users with legacy OpenVPN configuration files and some macOS IKEv2 setups to relevant support notices. These are time-bound operational details, not evidence of a general privacy defect. Check Proton’s status page for current notices before troubleshooting a connection.
