The precise “11.0-2e” title has not been corroborated by the official Proton pages referenced here. The stable version identified in GamingOnLinux’s August 21, 2026 coverage is Proton 11.0-2. The report calls 11.0-2 a stable update; it does not establish that “2e” is an official suffix or a separate release. Until Valve publishes an entry for that exact label, it is safer to refer to the Xalia change as a Proton 11-related fix rather than claim a specific 11.0-2e release.

Why a Proton update does not guarantee every game will work
Valve describes Proton as a compatibility layer that lets Windows games run on Linux, built from a modified version of Wine and graphics API implementations. Valve’s Steamworks documentation also explains that some compatibility capabilities depend on configuration by game publishers. For example, Easy Anti-Cheat and BattlEye require manual integration steps. A release note addressing one launcher interaction therefore cannot establish that a particular game, anti-cheat setup, or device configuration will work.
How to interpret the update for your setup
- If the problem is a lockup while interacting with the EA App, the Xalia 0.4.9 changelog entry is the relevant one.
- If an EA game stopped launching after an EA Desktop update, look for the separate Proton 11.0-1 entry rather than attributing that issue to the Xalia fix.
- If Steam Overlay is the problem, that too is a separate Proton 11.0-1 changelog item.
- Proton is for running Windows games on Linux; Steam Deck and SteamOS are relevant examples, not prerequisites for the software update.
Valve’s listed changes do not establish that every affected user must switch to a particular channel or version. The right interpretation depends on the game, the symptom, and the Proton build available for the user’s system.
