What the latest Hadar update actually says
GamesRadar’s October 15, 2026 coverage reports that CD PROJEKT RED has nearly finished building Hadar’s world and conceptualizing its key elements. Joint CEO Michał Nowakowski described the project as “our biggest undertaking to date, taking us several years.” The team now has a coherent vision for the setting and its central ingredients, yet the project has not entered formal pre-production.

That distinction matters. A coherent world concept is an important milestone, but it does not mean the game’s production pipeline, complete design, content schedule, platforms or launch plan are locked. Developers are still constructing small prototypes and testing gameplay elements before committing to a full production approach.

Why the status sounds different from September
CD PROJEKT’s September 2, 2026 first-half earnings-call transcript called Hadar “still in the concept phase.” The company said more than 30 people were working on it and that it expected to hire up to 50 developers by the end of 2026 while trying different approaches, ideas and gameplay prototypes.

The September and October descriptions are compatible because they refer to different points in the same process. The team can finish a major world-vision stage while continuing to operate in the broader concept phase. Neither statement says that full production has begun.

What makes Hadar different from CDPR’s existing franchises
Hadar was first revealed in 2022 as CD PROJEKT RED’s first fully proprietary intellectual property. The Witcher originated in Andrzej Sapkowski’s books, while Cyberpunk is based on the Cyberpunk tabletop universe. Hadar is being created internally from the studio’s own resources and skills rather than adapted from an existing fictional property.

CD PROJEKT’s 2025 management report placed Hadar among the company’s internally developed new intellectual properties and its wider franchise-portfolio strategy. The report also mentioned continuing work on tie-in products at a category level, but it did not identify a Hadar item, licensing program or release plan.

The September company update put the project team at more than 30 people. CD PROJEKT expected that number to grow to as many as 50 developers by the end of 2026. The team is using prototypes to evaluate gameplay possibilities, which indicates that core systems are not publicly finalized.

Those figures describe staffing, not the eventual size of the game. They also do not provide a reliable basis for estimating a release date: hiring, prototyping and world development can continue through multiple production stages.

- The final game title beyond the Project Hadar codename
- A specific genre or gameplay format
- The setting’s location, era or fictional rules
- Characters, story details or screenshots

- A price, preorder or public product page
Rumors, supposed job-listing clues and unofficial artwork should therefore be treated as unconfirmed until CD PROJEKT RED publishes those details.

When could Project Hadar release?
There is no announced release window. The project is not yet in pre-production, so any specific year would be speculation. A credible schedule would require the company to define the game’s production plan, publicly identify platforms and provide a formal launch target. The current updates provide none of those milestones.

There is no confirmed preorder, game edition, soundtrack, book, collectible or official merchandise to target. The most meaningful future update would be confirmation that Hadar has entered pre-production or full production. Other useful evidence would include a named genre, playable-system details, platform targets, a first trailer or screenshots, and a release window issued by CD PROJEKT RED. Until then, the strongest conclusion is that the project’s creative foundation is becoming coherent while its production plan remains under development.
