What’s actually slowing this PC down?

If your PRISM Live Studio YouTube stream lost sound after you changed a video file, first check whether the new media source is actually playing. In Studio Mode, a newly added media source may need an explicit playback action. Then check that source’s mixer level and mute state, confirm PRISM’s audio devices, and compare the new file’s sound outside PRISM. The title alone cannot identify which of these is causing your silence.
1. Make sure the new media source started playing
This is the first check when the problem began immediately after changing the video. PRISM Live Studio’s desktop guide says media sources in Studio Mode do not play automatically after being added. If the replacement clip is not playing, its audio cannot reach the stream.

- In PRISM Live Studio, select the scene containing the replacement media source. Confirm you changed the intended source rather than another scene’s clip.
- If you are using Studio Mode, click Apply after adding the source. PRISM documents this as a way to start playback after adding a media source.
- For automatic playback when the source becomes active, open the source’s properties and clear “Restart playback when source becomes active.” The exact behavior may depend on how you activate the source; check whether the clip begins and whether its audio meter responds.
Do not treat a stopped clip as proof that the file has no audio. First establish that playback has begun.

PRISM’s FAQ describes per-source volume bars and a sound icon for muting. Check the replacement media source itself; a microphone that still works does not show that the video’s audio is reaching the mix.

- Look for the media source’s meter while the video plays. If there is no meter movement, return to playback and file checks.
- Make sure the source’s volume bar is not at zero or set too low.
- Check that the source is not muted; use its sound icon to toggle mute if needed.
- Listen to the stream mix, not only the local video preview. The preview and transmitted mix are different checks.
3. Verify PRISM’s input and output devices
If the source appears to play and its controls are not muted, check PRISM’s selected audio devices. PRISM’s FAQ advises checking that the correct input and output devices are selected when audio is missing. Device routing is a separate path from the media source’s own playback and mixer level.
- Open PRISM’s audio settings and note the selected input and output devices.
- Confirm the intended devices are selected rather than a disconnected or unused device.
- To inspect transmitted audio, go to Audio Mixer > Settings > Advanced Audio Settings, as PRISM documents.
Audio monitoring can help diagnose what PRISM is sending, but use it carefully: if speakers feed sound back into a microphone, or the signal is repeated elsewhere in the audio system, monitoring can create echo or howling. Turn monitoring off if it introduces feedback.

4. Check whether the changed file itself has sound
If the source is playing and its mixer controls look right, compare the replacement file with the previous one. Play the new file outside PRISM and confirm that it has an audible audio track. Then, if possible, load the previous file again and check whether its meter moves under the same scene and mixer setup.
PRISM’s desktop guidance establishes that a Media Source can play local video or audio files, but it does not confirm a particular codec-related cause for missing audio after a file change. Treat the comparison as a way to narrow down where the problem lies, not as proof that a specific format is unsupported.

- PLUG IN AND HEAR SOUND IN SECONDS - USB Type-A connector with a 3.5mm stereo headphone output and a separate 3.5mm mono microphone input. No drivers, no software, no external power - the adapter is USB bus-powered and is recognized as a standard USB audio device.
- WORKS ON WINDOWS, MAC AND LINUX - Driverless on Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/7/8, Linux and Mac OSX, and compliant with the USB Audio Device Class 1.0 specification, so any system that supports class-compliant USB audio will see it. Select it as the sound output and input device after plugging it in.
- TWO JACKS, TWO JOBS - The green jack is stereo OUT for headphones or powered speakers; the pink jack is mono microphone IN for a 3.5mm mic. It does NOT support 4-pole headsets on a single combo plug, it does NOT power passive speakers, and it does NOT add surround sound - it is a stereo 2-channel adapter.
- FOR LAPTOPS AND DESKTOPS THAT NEED AN AUDIO PORT BACK - Adds a headphone and mic port to a laptop, desktop, or mini PC whose onboard jack has failed or was never there. Managed and work-issued computers can block new USB audio devices by policy - check with your IT department before ordering for a company machine.
- SABRENT SUPPORT AND WARRANTY - What is in the box: one USB audio sound adapter. Backed by a 1-year limited warranty, extended to 2 years when you register within 90 days on the manufacturer's website.
5. Separate silence from sync or performance problems
If sound is present but stutters or arrives late, that is different from a completely silent stream. PRISM notes that large media files can use more CPU and recommends matching media resolution to transmission resolution. For timing differences involving external devices, its sync guide describes adjusting Sync Offset in milliseconds. Those checks may help with choppy or delayed audio, but they do not establish why a source is silent.
6. If there is still no sound, send PRISM useful details
PRISM’s FAQ documents a Help / Contact Us route in the program. When you contact support, include enough detail to distinguish playback, mixer, routing, and file issues:
