If PRISM Live Studio on desktop will not start a YouTube stream or keeps disconnecting in India, try PRISM’s targeted network setting first: Settings → Advanced → Network → IP Family → IPv4 Only, enable Enable network optimizations, apply the change, and restart PRISM. This addresses a specific desktop connection issue PRISM associates with IPv6 transition policies and network infrastructure changes in some countries; it is not a guaranteed fix for every viewer-visible buffering problem or for every mobile stream.
First identify what “buffering” means
Viewers may describe a stream as buffering, choppy, or stuttering. In PRISM’s support guidance, similar problems appear as an unstable stream, a disconnection, or failure to connect. The right fix depends on when it happens and which version of PRISM you use.

- Desktop, stream will not start or is unstable: try the IPv4 and network-optimization settings below.
- Desktop, stream starts and later disconnects: check upload capacity, connection stability, Wi-Fi signal, and security-software interference.
- Mobile, unstable transmission: reduce the video data being sent with Adaptive and, if needed, lower resolution.
- Stream never connects: also check the RTMP address and YouTube streaming permissions; poor bandwidth is not the only possible cause.
PRISM’s India-specific advice concerns the desktop app’s YouTube RTMP connection. It should not be treated as a universal remedy for mobile streaming or every mid-stream interruption. PRISM’s desktop guide to “Failed to connect to the server” says that in regions where IPv6 connections are unstable, IPv4 “may help improve connection stability to the streaming ingest server.”

- In PRISM Live Studio desktop, open Settings → Advanced → Network.
- Set IP Family to IPv4 Only.
- Turn on Enable network optimizations.
- Apply the change, then restart PRISM before trying the stream again.
PRISM attributes the issue described in its guidance to IPv6 transition policies and ISP infrastructure changes in certain countries. This setting is a targeted first test for the described desktop connection problem, not proof that IPv6 is causing every buffering symptom. If it changes nothing, continue with the checks below rather than assuming a DNS change, new router, or different ISP will fix the problem; PRISM’s cited guidance does not establish those remedies.

Desktop: fix drops after the stream has started
If a stream begins but disconnects, the likely areas to inspect are the local connection and anything that may block PRISM’s transmission. PRISM advises using wired LAN rather than Wi-Fi for consistent data transmission.
- Check upload capacity and stability. A connection can appear fast for downloads yet struggle to send a live video reliably. Avoid other heavy uploads on the same connection while testing.
- Test wired Ethernet if available. Connect the streaming computer to the router by LAN and retry. A Cat6 Ethernet cable may help make that wired connection if the computer and router have compatible ports, or you have a suitable adapter; a cable cannot remedy low ISP upload capacity or a YouTube-side problem.
- Check Wi-Fi signal if Ethernet is not practical. Move closer to the access point and test whether the stream is more stable. A weak or fluctuating signal can interrupt transmission.
- Review firewall and security software. Check whether PRISM is allowed to communicate. Do not permanently disable protective software; if you test a setting, restore protection and use the software’s documented app-allowlist controls.

Mobile: lower transmission demand and isolate the network
- In PRISM’s stream-quality controls, enable Adaptive.
- If the stream remains unstable, choose a lower resolution and test again.
- Check whether other people or devices on the same connection are uploading or transferring large files.
- For outdoor or crowded locations, check whether the connection is stable where you are streaming. The phone’s upload connection carries the video to the server.
Adaptive can reduce the amount of video data sent as conditions change, which may help maintain transmission, but image quality can fall. If the stream never connects, check that the RTMP address is valid and correctly formatted, and that the platform allows you to stream. PRISM’s mobile streaming-failure guide distinguishes network problems from address, platform-connection, and streaming-rights issues.
Use PRISM’s bandwidth figures as guidance, not a YouTube guarantee
PRISM publishes the following mobile bandwidth ranges with Adaptive off. They are PRISM’s guidance, not guaranteed YouTube bitrates or a promise that a connection at the listed minimum will be stable. PRISM recommends having at least twice the specified network bandwidth for high-quality live streaming. The guide’s publication date is not stated.

The range alternatives are presented as PRISM lists them; they should not be collapsed into a single universal setting. For practical testing, start below your intended resolution, stream briefly, and increase quality only if transmission remains stable. The figures and bandwidth-margin recommendation are from PRISM’s mobile stability and quality tips.
If the stream still will not connect
- Confirm that internet access works on the device and that the network in use is stable.
- Verify the RTMP URL and stream-key configuration in PRISM and YouTube; do not share your stream key publicly.
- Check YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and settings for the channel. A network adjustment cannot override a platform restriction.
- Update PRISM to the latest version available for your device, then retry.
- If the error persists, contact PRISM through its service inquiry channel; its FAQ recommends checking internet access, updating the app, and contacting support for unresolved errors.
