For a YouTube stream from PRISM Live Studio over Jio Fiber, measure your upload speed at the place and time you plan to broadcast, then set PRISM to a bitrate YouTube recommends for your codec, resolution and frame rate. Jio’s advertised plan speed is not a guarantee of the throughput or stability at your home. For H.264, YouTube’s guidance lists 10 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps and 12 Mbps for 1080p at 60 fps; if your connection or computer cannot sustain the target, reduce the output settings before going live.
What upload speed do you need?
Your stream sends video out to YouTube, so upload capacity—not download speed alone—is what matters. You need enough measured, steady upload bandwidth for the selected stream bitrate, with room for normal variation and other devices using the connection. There is no single Jio Fiber plan speed that guarantees a successful stream at every home.

Jio’s plan comparison page lists symmetric advertised upload and download tiers of 30, 100 and 150 Mbps. Its Mumbai regional page also describes local offers and says availability should be checked by area. These advertised tiers and regional offers do not establish the speed of an individual connection. Jio’s all-India wireline QoS report for the quarter ending September 2025 gives the following aggregated figures; they are not a subscriber-specific guarantee.

Choose a bitrate for YouTube and PRISM
Use YouTube’s guidance for the codec you select in PRISM rather than treating PRISM’s general bitrate suggestions as a substitute for YouTube’s platform-specific table. The figures below are YouTube’s published H.264 recommendations and AV1/H.265 ranges. Confirm the current tables and the codec options available in your version of PRISM before configuring a broadcast.
| Output | H.264 bitrate | AV1 or H.265 bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p, 60 fps | 12 Mbps | 4–10 Mbps |
| 1080p, 30 fps | 10 Mbps | 3–8 Mbps |
| 720p, 60 fps | 8 Mbps | 3–8 Mbps |
| 240p–720p, 30 fps | 4 Mbps | 3–8 Mbps |
| 1440p, 60 fps | 24 Mbps | not stated for this resolution in the cited YouTube summary |
| 1440p, 30 fps | 15 Mbps | not stated for this resolution in the cited YouTube summary |
| 4K, 60 fps | 35 Mbps | not stated for this resolution in the cited YouTube summary |
| 4K, 30 fps | 30 Mbps | not stated for this resolution in the cited YouTube summary |
PRISM’s FAQ gives broader general broadcast suggestions: 1–2 Mbps at 360p, 2–4 Mbps at 720p and 4–6 Mbps at 1080p. It also recommends 30 fps and keyframes every 1–2 seconds. These are general PRISM recommendations; for YouTube, use the platform’s codec- and output-specific advice when setting the actual encoder bitrate.

For example, a 1080p30 H.264 stream has a YouTube recommendation of 10 Mbps. A speed test well above that bitrate gives more room than a result close to it, but neither the Jio tariff label nor one speed-test result guarantees uninterrupted delivery. If the available upload fluctuates or the computer struggles, choose a lower output rather than running the encoder at the edge of its capacity.

Set up PRISM Live Studio and YouTube
- Check your connection. Run an upload speed test from the computer and network you will use for the broadcast, at a time representative of the event. Pause large uploads and downloads on other devices during the test and, if possible, the stream. YouTube specifically recommends testing upload bitrate.
- Prepare the YouTube live event. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the live stream and obtain its stream key and server details from the live control room. Keep the key private: anyone who has it may be able to broadcast to your channel. YouTube may require live-streaming access to be enabled and may impose account or channel eligibility requirements; check the current YouTube Studio prompts before the event.
- Connect PRISM to YouTube. In PRISM Live Studio, choose YouTube as the destination and sign in or use the platform/stream-key connection option available in your version. If entering a key manually, copy the correct key from the YouTube live control room and do not share it publicly. Interface labels can vary by PRISM version.
- Choose resolution, frame rate and codec. Select an output your computer can encode and your measured connection can sustain. For a typical 1080p H.264 broadcast, use the YouTube recommendation for the chosen frame rate: 10 Mbps at 30 fps or 12 Mbps at 60 fps. If using AV1 or H.265, consult the corresponding range above and confirm that both the PRISM version and your YouTube workflow support the codec.
- Set keyframes and bitrate. Set the keyframe interval to 1–2 seconds, as PRISM recommends. Choose bitrate based on YouTube’s guidance for the selected codec, resolution and frame rate; do not copy a value intended for a different output.
- Test before the event. Start a private or unlisted test where appropriate, using representative movement and audio. Check YouTube’s stream health and any encoder messages, then make adjustments before the public broadcast.
- Monitor while live. Watch YouTube stream health and PRISM’s connection/performance indicators. If the stream drops frames, buffers or reports unstable delivery, lower the bitrate and, if needed, resolution or frame rate.
Keep resolution and computer load realistic
Higher resolution, bitrate and frame rate can increase both network demand and computer load. A connection may have sufficient upload capacity while the computer still cannot encode smoothly. Conversely, a capable computer cannot compensate for an unstable upload connection.

- Dual band router upgrades to 1200 Mbps high speed internet (300mbps for 2.4GHz plus 900Mbps for 5GHz), reducing buffering and ideal for 4K stream
- Full Gigabit Ports - Gigabit Router with 4 Gigabit LAN ports, ideal for any internet plan and allow you to directly connect your wired devices
- Boosted Coverage - Four external antennas equipped with Beamforming technology extend and concentrate the Wi-Fi signals
- MU-MIMO technology - (5GHz band) allows high speeds for multiple devices simultaneously
- Access Point Mode - Supports AP Mode to transform your wired connection into wireless network, an ideal wireless router for home
- Prefer 30 fps when the content does not need 60 fps; it generally requires less encoder and network capacity.
- Lower resolution before the stream if a test shows instability, rather than waiting for a live failure.
- Close unnecessary applications that encode video or consume bandwidth, and avoid competing large uploads during the event.
- PRISM’s performance guidance recommends lowering resolution, bitrate or FPS when performance is poor. Its adaptive-bitrate option, where available, can adjust bitrate and FPS as network conditions change, but may reduce image quality to maintain stability.
Troubleshoot common streaming problems
- YouTube reports poor stream health: The selected bitrate may be too high for the connection’s current upload, or other traffic may be competing for bandwidth. Re-test upload under current conditions, stop background transfers, and lower the bitrate if needed.
- Video drops frames or looks choppy: The computer may be overloaded, the connection may be unstable, or the output settings may be too demanding. Reduce FPS or resolution and bitrate, then repeat a test with representative content.
- The stream disconnects: Check whether the connection is fluctuating and whether the correct YouTube event and stream key are selected in PRISM. Reconnect using the active event’s key; never post the key in a screenshot or public message.
- The image is stable but soft: A lower bitrate or adaptive adjustment may have reduced image quality. If upload and computer capacity permit, raise bitrate within YouTube’s recommendation for that codec and output, then test again.
- Settings appear unavailable or differ from these steps: PRISM’s interface and codec support can change. Use the options shown in your installed version and verify the currently applicable guidance from PRISM and YouTube.
Copyright and channel-policy checks
Using PRISM and a stable Jio connection does not grant rights to the video, music, images or other material in a broadcast. Before going live, confirm that you own or are licensed to use every element, or that a valid exception applies in your jurisdiction. YouTube may detect copyrighted material during a live stream and apply restrictions or enforcement. Repeatedly broadcasting material without rights can put the channel at risk. Review YouTube’s current copyright and live-streaming rules for your content and region.
Or let it run in the cloud
