If your printer shows it is connected to Wi-Fi but your computer says “Printer is Offline,” check the printer for errors, confirm both devices use the same network, then inspect the computer’s print queue. A Wi-Fi indicator confirms the printer’s wireless connection; it does not guarantee the computer is sending jobs to the right printer entry or that the queue is working. Follow the steps below from least disruptive to more involved.
1. Check the printer and try a printer-side test
Look at the printer’s display or control panel for an error, paper issue, or prompt such as “User Intervention Required.” Resolve any message before troubleshooting the computer. If the printer offers a test page or nozzle check from its own controls, run it.

- If the printer cannot produce its own test output, focus first on its displayed error and model-specific instructions. Epson notes that an offline status can originate with the printer, computer, or wireless network: Epson Support.
- If the printer produces the test successfully, the issue is more likely in network communication, the computer’s printer entry, or its queue than in the printer’s ability to print.
2. Make sure the computer and printer are on the same Wi-Fi network
Check the network name (SSID) shown on the printer and compare it with the Wi-Fi network used by the computer. A home may have multiple routers or separate network names for an extender or access point; being connected to Wi-Fi does not necessarily mean both devices are on the same network. Microsoft recommends confirming that the PC and printer use the same network: Microsoft’s printer troubleshooting guidance.
3. Restart the printer
Power-cycle the printer before changing settings or removing it from the computer. Microsoft’s procedure is to turn the printer off, unplug it, wait 30 seconds, reconnect it, and turn it back on. The 30-second wait is the interval specified for this restart procedure, not a guarantee that the printer will reconnect or print afterward: Microsoft Support.

4. If you use Windows, check the troubleshooter and queue
Start with the Windows 11 printer troubleshooter
Microsoft recommends starting Windows 11 troubleshooting in the Get Help app with its printer troubleshooter. If that does not resolve the issue, continue with the queue and service checks below.
Clear stuck jobs and check the printer status
Open the intended printer’s queue in Windows settings. Cancel jobs that are stuck, confirm printing is not paused, and make sure “Use Printer Offline” is not selected. Check that the job is going to the correct printer, especially if Windows lists multiple entries for the same device. Microsoft’s Windows guidance covers queue and offline-status checks; Epson also documents the “Use Printer Offline” symptom in its offline printer instructions.

Restart Print Spooler, then re-add the printer if needed
If the queue remains stuck after clearing jobs, restart the Windows Print Spooler service. If the printer still appears offline, remove and add it again through Windows printer settings, then select the correct entry when printing. Microsoft lists restarting Print Spooler and reinstalling the printer among its later troubleshooting steps: Microsoft Support.
5. If you use a Mac, re-add the printer entry
Epson’s macOS instructions describe removing the existing printer and adding the printer entry identified as Bonjour. Follow the steps for your macOS version and printer model; the exact settings labels can vary. If the printer is connected to Wi-Fi but still will not print, Epson suggests restarting the router and then the Mac. A router restart can temporarily interrupt other connected devices and may require them to reconnect. See Epson’s wireless offline instructions.

6. Reset the printer’s network only if it cannot reconnect
If the printer’s Wi-Fi indicator is off or it cannot join the network, use the manufacturer’s instructions for that exact model. Epson’s Windows guidance describes resetting Wi-Fi or network settings and reinstalling the product software when the printer has lost its wireless connection. Network-reset menus differ by model, and saved network settings may need to be entered again, so do not use a reset as a routine first step: Epson Support.

If the printer can print a self-test, both devices are confirmed on the same network, and the queue and printer entry have been refreshed without success, check the support instructions for your printer model and operating system. The steps above do not establish a single cause for every offline symptom; menu names and network-reset procedures vary by printer. Microsoft states that Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025; that support-status date does not mean an offline printer by itself requires upgrading Windows.
