Prime Video is one of the benefits included with Amazon Prime. In the U.S., the included on-demand movies and shows have limited advertisements, according to Amazon’s Prime Video overview.

The Prime Video app brings together several kinds of viewing, so a title appearing in the interface does not by itself mean it is included. Check the title’s details for whether it is part of Prime, offered through a paid channel, available to rent or buy, or free with ads.

Prime Video Ultra: what the upgrade changes
Amazon lists Prime Video Ultra at $4.99 per month in the U.S. for the ad-free on-demand experience described on its Prime Video overview. The Ultra signup help page says annual billing is available to annual Prime members, but does not state the annual price.

“Ad-free” has limits: Amazon says ads may still appear with live TV and events, select ad-supported content, and add-ons. The upgrade concerns on-demand Prime movies and shows; it does not make separately subscribed channel content ad-free. How add-on channels work
Add-on channels are optional, paid subscriptions to third-party premium networks and streaming channels. Amazon describes them as a way to choose the extra content you want: “With Prime Video Add-on subscriptions, you only pay for the subscriptions you want, and you can cancel any time.” A free trial may be available where applicable. Each provider controls its own available titles, and some add-ons offer a Watch Live option on supported devices. Catalogs, trials and live-TV access can therefore differ by channel. How to decide which options you need
- Compare total recurring cost. Add the Prime membership and any Ultra or channel subscriptions you expect to keep. Rentals and purchases are separate one-off charges.
- Consider your reason for subscribing. If you want Prime’s broader membership benefits, compare that full value with the cost of the video options you will actually use.
- Check whether a specific title is included. Confirm it is Prime-included rather than in a paid add-on, rentable, purchasable or free with ads.
- Factor in ads and live programming. Ultra addresses ads in on-demand Prime movies and shows, not every live, ad-supported or add-on program.
- Check playback needs. Ultra video features depend on device capability and internet bandwidth; live options also depend on the channel provider and supported device.
Is there a standalone Prime Video plan?
The official Amazon pages cited here establish Prime Video as a Prime membership benefit and describe the Ultra upgrade, but do not establish whether a current U.S. Prime Video-only membership is available or what it costs. Check Amazon’s current signup or checkout options for your account and location rather than relying on older standalone prices.

You do not need a Fire TV device to subscribe: Amazon says its Fire TV app provides access to video included with Prime or a Prime Video membership, making Fire TV hardware an optional way to watch on a television. Amazon help
