A power bank can power some portable DVD players through a compatible DC converter, but there is no universal USB charging method. Check the exact player’s manual and input label first: they determine the required voltage, current, connector and polarity, and whether external power also charges the internal battery.
Charging the battery and running the player are different
A manual may say a player can run from an external DC supply without confirming that the supply will charge its internal battery. Look for separate instructions for charging and for operating on external power. If the documentation does not explicitly say that the battery charges through the input you plan to use, do not assume it does.

The MEGATEK PD-1256 manual, for example, specifies its supplied AC adapter or a 9–12V DC car adapter and says the player does not support USB charging. That guidance applies to this model, not all portable DVD players. MEGATEK PD-1256 and other model-specific manual examples
Check the player’s power requirements
- Find the exact make and model on the player’s label.
- Read the manual and the rating printed beside the DC input. Note the required voltage, current, polarity and connector dimensions.
- Check whether the documentation describes battery charging, external operation, or both.
- Compare those requirements with the output ratings and modes of the power bank and any converter.
Model requirements differ. The examples documented here include 9–12V DC for the MEGATEK PD-1256, a DC 12V IN connection on an LG portable DVD player, and 9–12V at 1.5A for the Logik L10SPDV13. These are model-specific figures, not a general standard. Portable DVD player manual examples

A barrel plug that fits is not proof of compatibility. The voltage must match the player’s specification; the supply must provide adequate current; and the plug’s dimensions and polarity must be correct. If a requirement is unclear, use the manufacturer-specified adapter rather than guessing.
How USB-C power banks may work with a DC-input player
USB-C Power Delivery can negotiate among supported output modes, but the USB-C connector by itself does not guarantee that a bank will supply the voltage a particular player needs. Check the power bank’s own specifications as well as the player’s. USB-IF overview of USB Power Delivery

If the player accepts DC input but not USB charging, a USB-C PD trigger cable or regulated converter may be an option. It must request and deliver the player’s specified voltage, provide sufficient current, and have the correct polarity and connector dimensions. Do not connect a generic USB cable directly to a DC barrel input.

Portable DVD player manuals document different supplied power options: Philips PET830 documentation describes an AC adapter, car adapter and rechargeable battery; an LG manual documents a 12V DC input and limits for its automotive adapter; and the Logik L10SPDV13 manual lists a 12V car adapter. When not to connect a power bank
- The player’s required voltage, current, polarity or connector size is unknown.
- The power bank or converter cannot provide the player’s specified voltage and adequate current.
- The cable’s polarity or connector dimensions are unverified, even if the plug appears to fit.
- You need the internal battery to charge, but the manual only confirms external operation.
- The proposed setup relies on a standard USB cable directly connecting to a DC input.
In these cases, use the specified adapter or contact the player’s manufacturer for compatible power options.
