The Dell 16S can be a capable large-screen laptop for everyday work, study and home use, but its value depends on the exact configuration and price. Independent reviews found the Core Ultra 7 355 version competent rather than exceptional; the display choice, integrated graphics and SSD performance are important considerations before paying extra for a higher-tier model.
What the Dell 16S offers—and why the configuration matters
“Dell 16S” covers several configurations, not one fixed specification. Dell’s US listing checked on October 7, 2026, included four processor options, two memory capacities, two storage sizes and four display types. Dell notes that options and prices vary, so a review of one configuration does not establish how another one performs or what it is worth.

How well does it handle everyday work?
ITPro tested a configuration with a Core Ultra 7 355, integrated Intel Graphics, 16GB LPDDR5X and a 512GB SSD. Its Geekbench 6 results were 2,683 single-core and 11,052 multi-core. ITPro described the CPU performance as solid but unspectacular. Those scores describe the review sample and test methodology, not every Dell 16S configuration.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The same ITPro review recorded an OpenCL graphics score of 24,616 and judged the integrated graphics suitable for basic-to-moderately intensive work. That points to a laptop for routine productivity and lighter creative tasks, not a substitute for a system with dedicated graphics when demanding workloads are central to your needs. ITPro also criticized the sample’s SSD write speeds.
Notebookcheck tested a different DS16260 configuration, with a Core Ultra 7 355, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD and 2880×1800 OLED touchscreen. It reported 11,475 in Geekbench 6.7 multi-core. The result is not directly interchangeable with ITPro’s Geekbench 6 score: the review versions and test setups differ. Notebookcheck also notes that component suppliers may differ between units.

Is the display worth paying more for?
The 16S’s display options vary substantially. The FHD+ panels run at 60Hz; the QHD+ and OLED options run at 120Hz. Dell lists the QHD+ panel at 500 nits, compared with 400 nits for the other listed choices. The OLED option adds touch and a 2880×1800 resolution, while the QHD+ option is non-touch.
For documents, browsing and video, the FHD+ panel may be sufficient if it keeps the price down. A higher-resolution, faster-refresh panel may be a better fit if screen detail and smooth scrolling matter to you. OLED and touch are configuration benefits, not proof that the whole laptop is worth a premium. Compare the actual price difference and confirm the panel listed on the order page.

Can it handle graphic design, gaming or other creative work?
Both cited review configurations use integrated Intel Graphics. ITPro’s benchmark and assessment support basic-to-moderately intensive graphics tasks, but they do not establish performance in every professional application. For graphic design, suitability depends on the software, file complexity and effects you use; integrated graphics should not be treated as equivalent to a dedicated GPU.
Notebookcheck’s game results vary sharply by title and settings. The configuration is better characterized as suitable for light gaming and less demanding workloads than as a dedicated gaming laptop. If your work or games rely on sustained, demanding graphics performance, verify results for the exact configuration and application before choosing it.

What should you expect from battery life?
Dell advertises “up to 29 hours” based on its April 2026 local-video playback test of a specific configuration: Core Ultra 7 355, Intel Graphics, FHD display, 16GB memory and 1TB SSD, tested at 150 nits with wireless enabled. Dell warns that actual battery life may be significantly less and varies with configuration and use. Treat 29 hours as a controlled maximum for that test, not a typical-workday guarantee for every 16S.

It should not be confused with the 29-hour local-video result. The methodology and qualification are on Dell’s battery-life announcement.

How portable is a 16-inch laptop?
Notebookcheck measured its tested OLED-equipped sample at 1.802kg. That is one configuration’s weight, not a universal figure for every listing. A 16-inch screen gives you more working area, but the larger format is less convenient to carry than a smaller laptop; Which? likewise describes the screen-size gain as a portability compromise.
Does the price justify the hardware?
There is no single price that settles the question: Dell’s US page uses configuration-based pricing, and regional prices and promotions change. Compare like for like—processor, screen, memory and storage—and judge the full package rather than paying a premium solely for a higher processor tier.
ITPro praised the chassis’ sturdy aluminum feel but pointed to details such as the display surround and keyboard/touchpad styling as less convincing. The reviewer questioned paying close to £2,000 for the top Core Ultra 9 386H/32GB configuration when the display remained the same. That is an August 28, 2026 reviewer judgment tied to UK pricing, not a current or universal price verdict. You can read the ITPro Dell 16S review.

Quick Recap
Who should consider the Dell 16S?
- A good fit: You want a 16-inch Windows laptop for everyday productivity, study or home use, and the specific screen and configuration are priced competitively.
- Look closely before buying: You want the OLED, QHD+ or higher processor option. Confirm the exact panel and compare the configuration premium against the benefit you will use.
- Consider another class of laptop: Your priority is demanding graphics work, dedicated-gpu gaming, or maximum portability. The reviewed configurations have integrated graphics, and the tested sample weighs about 1.8kg.
