Reports in December 2025 described an extortion threat involving data associated with some Pornhub Premium users—not a breach of every Pornhub account. Aylo, Pornhub’s parent company, said third-party analytics data was involved and that passwords and payment details were not stolen. Hackers claimed they had historical records of users’ activity; Mixpanel disputed that the data came from its November 2025 security incident. The source and scope remain contested.
What happened?
Aylo said an incident involving third-party analytics data affected some Premium users. In a notice published December 12, 2025, as reported by Le Monde, Aylo said the incident was not a direct breach of Pornhub’s infrastructure and that passwords, payment details, and government IDs were not stolen.

BleepingComputer reported that Aylo said it had not worked with Mixpanel since 2021, suggesting the analytics records were historical. That date range is Aylo’s account, not an independently verified boundary for the records.

On December 15, BleepingComputer reported that the group ShinyHunters claimed it had the data and threatened to publish it unless a ransom was paid. The report described a sample it reviewed; the threat actor’s claims about the dataset should not be mistaken for a verified account of how the data was obtained or how many people it concerns.

What information was reportedly exposed?
BleepingComputer said its sample of the alleged records contained email addresses alongside activity details, including search, watch, and download events; location; video URLs and names; associated keywords; and event times. If linked to an identifiable email address, this kind of viewing and search context can be highly sensitive.
ShinyHunters claimed the dataset contained 201,211,943 historical activity records. That is the group’s claimed record count, not a verified number of affected people or unique accounts. The reports do not establish a confirmed count of individuals affected.

Did Pornhub get hacked, and did Mixpanel lose the data?
Aylo’s account was that Pornhub’s own Premium systems were not directly breached and that the incident involved third-party analytics data. Mixpanel disputed the claim that the Pornhub data came from its November 2025 security incident. BleepingComputer quoted Mixpanel as saying, “We can find no indication that this data was stolen from Mixpanel during our November 2025 security Incident or otherwise.” The report also said Mixpanel stated that a legitimate employee account at Pornhub’s parent company last accessed the data in 2023.

The reported timeline includes a Mixpanel security incident on November 8, 2025, followed by Aylo’s December 12 notice and ShinyHunters’ extortion claim reported on December 15. Le Monde’s December 17 coverage also summarized Mixpanel’s denial of a connection. The source remains disputed in the available reporting.

Pornhub warned that people claiming to be responsible for the incident might contact impacted Premium users directly. The statement, reproduced by Malwarebytes on December 22, said: “We are aware that the individuals responsible for this incident have threatened to contact impacted Pornhub Premium users directly. You may therefore receive emails claiming they have your personal information. As a reminder, we will never ask for your password or payment information by email.”
- Do not respond or pay. Avoid engaging with the sender; a reply can confirm that your address is active.
- Save the message. Preserve the email, including its headers, in case you need to report it. Do not click links or open attachments.
- Secure accounts you still use. If your Pornhub password is active, change it to a unique password you do not use elsewhere. Enable multi-factor authentication on your primary email account.
- Check payment statements. Look for unfamiliar charges and contact your payment provider through its official channel if you find one.
These steps can help reduce phishing and account-takeover risks, but changing a password cannot erase historical analytics data that may already have been copied.
