The COROS HRM is a Bluetooth-only option with a longer manufacturer-claimed continuous runtime and automatic wear detection. Neither has been shown to be more accurate than the other in a controlled head-to-head test.

| Recording without a paired device | Stores up to 600 hours of training, according to Polar’s manual. | Requires a compatible smart device or third-party app to record and collect workout data. |
| Manufacturer-claimed runtime | Up to 30 hours of continuous training. | Up to 38 hours of continuous activity; up to 80 days on standby. |
| Water and swimming | Rated to 50 m; Polar says it is suitable for bathing and swimming. Its product page describes a swim mode and includes a goggle-strap clip. | Rated to 3 ATM for wet weather, but COROS says it is not designed for swimming or water sports. |

Connectivity: ANT+ or Bluetooth?
The protocol difference can determine whether a monitor works with your existing watch, bike computer, or other receiver. Polar supports both Bluetooth and ANT+, while COROS HRM pairs over Bluetooth and has no ANT+ support. Check the receiving device’s supported protocols before choosing; Bluetooth compatibility alone does not guarantee compatibility with every device or app.
COROS explains in its official FAQ: “There will be no ANT+ support as we are using a newer Bluetooth chip which does not provide ANT+ support but has far better computing power and lower power consumption than chips with ANT+ support.” That is COROS’s explanation, not an independently verified comparison of battery performance.

Recording workouts without a phone or watch
Polar Verity Sense
Polar’s manual says the Verity Sense can store up to 600 hours of training. That makes it the option to consider if you want to record a workout without carrying a paired phone or watch and sync the stored training later.
COROS HRM
COROS says a compatible smart device or third-party app is required to record and collect workout data. The HRM is therefore not the equivalent of a standalone recorder: plan to use it with a compatible connected device or app.

Swimming and water use
Polar Verity Sense
Polar specifies 50 m water resistance and says the sensor is suitable for bathing and swimming. Its product page describes a swim mode and a goggle-strap clip for temple placement. These features make it the clear fit of the two for swim tracking.

COROS HRM
COROS lists 3 ATM water resistance for wet-weather use but says the monitor is not designed for swimming or water sports. It also says the device does not store data for later post-swim syncing. A water-resistance rating should not be taken as approval for swim use.

Battery claims and wear detection
Polar claims up to 30 hours of continuous training. COROS claims up to 38 hours of continuous activity and up to 80 days of standby. These are manufacturer-stated maximums, not guaranteed real-world results. COROS also documents automatic wear detection: it recognizes when the monitor is worn and automatically connects to paired devices when a workout starts. The official sources cited here do not establish whether the Polar sensor has an equivalent feature.
What the accuracy evidence can—and cannot—tell you
The available tests do not provide a controlled Polar-versus-COROS comparison, so they cannot establish an accuracy winner. Wareable reported testing the COROS HRM against a Garmin HRM-Pro chest strap during one one-hour run over mixed terrain with hill sprints: the COROS averaged 164 bpm versus 165 bpm for the strap, with a maximum of 183 versus 185 bpm. The outlet noted slight optical-sensor lag at the highest peaks. It separately described Polar Verity Sense comparisons with an Apple Watch during cardio and with a Polar H10 chest strap, noting that the chest strap picked up changes faster. Those are separate tests in different contexts, not a direct comparison between these armbands. See Wareable’s report, published August 25, 2026.
