A Pokémon HOME interface category reportedly listing FireRed and LeafGreen as Game Boy Advance software has fans asking whether Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald could follow. That is a reasonable theory, but it is not an announcement: Nintendo has confirmed HOME support for the Switch versions of FireRed and LeafGreen beginning in October 2026, and has not announced Switch releases or HOME compatibility for the Hoenn games.
What the new GBA category does—and does not—confirm
The category observation comes from a Reddit user’s post and screenshot, not from an official Nintendo roadmap. It indicates what that poster says they saw in HOME; it does not establish that Nintendo plans to add every Game Boy Advance Pokémon game, or any particular future title. The community post captures the question behind the speculation.

That distinction matters because a label can describe the system or software category for games already supported without promising a wider catalog. Nintendo has not said that the reported category is a preview of Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald.

Why Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald are part of the conversation
FireRed and LeafGreen are GBA games, so their announced Switch releases and planned HOME connection naturally prompt fans to wonder whether the same approach could extend to other games from that system. Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald are the obvious Hoenn-era titles in that discussion. Community posts also speculate about how Pokémon might transfer and what future releases could mean for completing a Pokédex. Those are questions and hypotheses—not confirmed plans or technical details. The Reddit discussion reflects that uncertainty.

Confirmed support versus the Hoenn speculation
| Games | What is confirmed | What is not confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Switch versions of FireRed and LeafGreen | Digital Switch releases; HOME connection beginning in October 2026, according to The Pokémon Company’s announcement. | Details beyond the announcement should not be inferred from the GBA category report. |
| Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald | No release or HOME compatibility confirmation appears in the cited official announcement, HOME update history, or Nintendo Support FAQ. | Switch ports, release timing, price, game selection, and HOME transfer behavior remain unannounced. |
What to watch for next
For a confirmed answer, look for a direct announcement from The Pokémon Company or Nintendo, or an update to Nintendo’s official HOME compatibility history. Until then, the category report is a prompt for fan discussion—not evidence that Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald are on the way.
