Nintendo’s instructions cover selecting a game and save data in HOME, then choosing a box; they do not establish which new release prompted the headline or list every supported GBA title. Pokémon moved from FireRed or LeafGreen cannot be returned to those games.
How to transfer GBA Pokémon into HOME
Nintendo Support describes the procedure in Pokémon HOME on Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2. The instructions do not say that you insert a physical GBA cartridge into either console.

- Launch Pokémon HOME on Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2.
- Select GBA games.
- Choose the game, then choose its save data.
- Select the box containing the Pokémon you want to transfer.
Pokémon in your party cannot be transferred, according to Nintendo’s support instructions. The page describes the selection flow but does not establish a complete list of compatible GBA games.
What happens to Pokémon after transfer
For transfers from Pokémon FireRed or Pokémon LeafGreen, Nintendo says the Pokémon cannot be transferred back to those games. Treat the move as one-way: check the Pokémon and the selected box before confirming.

HOME is a hub, not a guarantee that a Pokémon can be sent into every connected game. Compatibility depends on the destination game and whether that Pokémon is available in it. Nintendo’s Pokémon HOME FAQ advises checking a Pokémon’s compatible-games list before attempting a move.
Do you need Premium, Pokémon Bank, or a 3DS?
The GBA-game selection is documented in the console version of Pokémon HOME. Nintendo distinguishes console and mobile app features in its FAQ, and says a Premium Plan is not required for transfers between compatible game save data on console. These instructions do not establish that the described GBA route requires a 3DS or Pokémon Bank.

Pokémon Bank is a separate transfer path. Nintendo’s service notice says Bank-to-HOME transfers will stop when Bank ends service and advises users to move Pokémon before that happens; the notice passage does not provide an end date. See Nintendo’s Pokémon Bank notice for the service information.

How this differs from the old Pal Park route
Before the newly documented HOME connection, the historical GBA-to-DS migration route used Pal Park to move Pokémon into Pokémon Platinum. Nintendo’s Platinum manual says the National Pokédex is required for that process. It is a different route with different hardware and software requirements, not a prerequisite for the HOME procedure.

What Nintendo’s instructions do not establish
- They do not identify the exact new release referenced by the headline.
- They do not provide a launch date for that release.
- They do not give a complete list of supported GBA titles.
Check the current in-app options and Nintendo’s support page for the game you intend to use; do not assume that every GBA Pokémon title is supported.
