VGC’s 2 October 2026 episode features Jordan Middler, Chris Scullion and Andy Robinson discussing the week’s gaming stories, including the reported return of Uncharted. Its linked episode is titled “Uncharted 5 starring Cassie? We’re interested.” The page also covers Star Wars: Galactic Racer and Gears of War E-Day, so it is not exclusively an Uncharted discussion. Is Uncharted 5 happening?

Naughty Dog’s latest cited official update, posted on 28 September, discusses two The Last of Us projects in very early stages and says Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will receive a full reveal in 2027. What does the current Uncharted rumor claim?
GamesRadar reported on 1 October 2026 that MP1st had claimed an all-new Uncharted project was in the works. The report says Shaun Escayg is reportedly leading it and Nathan Drake is involved in some capacity, but it is unclear whether Drake would be the protagonist. GamesRadar also said leaker NateTheHate identified the project he had previously referenced as a new Uncharted. These are attributed reports, not confirmation from Sony or Naughty Dog. That ending was designed as the completion of Nathan Drake’s story: GameSpot’s April 2026 roundup recalls Neil Druckmann saying so in 2016. In 2022, Escayg said “never say never” about another game, and Druckmann has suggested an outside developer could potentially continue the series with Naughty Dog helping preserve its essence. What has Naughty Dog said about making another one?
In a 2025 Variety interview, Druckmann said Naughty Dog does not tend to plan too far ahead and that the team chooses projects based on its passions. He mentioned Uncharted among the studio’s intellectual property, but did not identify it as the next game. That leaves future choices open without amounting to a promise. Read the Variety interview.

If you want to revisit the original trilogy, The Nathan Drake Collection is one option. GameSpot describes it as a remastered collection of the first three games. Check the current store listing, format and platform compatibility before buying; it is an existing collection, not a preorder or listing for the rumored game.
