The POCO M8x 5G is the pick if you want the bigger battery and a newer Android version: it lists 7,900mAh and Android 16. It also costs noticeably more in the Indian listings we checked, roughly ₹4,000 to ₹5,500 above the M7 Plus depending on the retailer. All specs and prices below come from comparison publishers, not an official M8x page, so confirm them before you buy.

The spec lists are from comparison pages such as 91mobiles, Smartprix and Gadgets Now. No official Xiaomi India page for either exact model turned up; the official-domain search surfaced only the POCO M8 5G, which is a different phone. Treat the M8x figures as source-reported rather than manufacturer-confirmed. RAM and storage options also differ between sources, so check the exact variant on the product page.

Display: the clearest difference
Both phones have the same 6.9-inch size, but the M7 Plus has a sharper FHD+ panel (1080 × 2340) and a higher listed refresh rate (144Hz). The M8x is listed at HD+ (720 × 1600) and 120Hz. On a screen this large, the lower resolution will mean softer text and fine detail, especially for reading, browsing and video. For a phone that will be used mainly for media, this is the strongest argument for the M7 Plus.

Battery and charging
The M8x lists 7,900mAh against 7,000mAh on the M7 Plus, about 13% more capacity. Both are listed with 33W charging, so a bigger cell on the M8x likely means a slightly longer full charge. Capacity alone does not set endurance, because the screen, chipset efficiency and software all matter. 91mobiles reports PCMark battery results of 13h 58m for the M7 Plus and 22h 19m for the M8x. These are that publisher’s own figures; the test conditions and repeatability were not disclosed, so use them as a directional hint rather than a promise. The M8x’s lower-resolution screen is a plausible reason for part of that gap, but that is an inference, not something the sources state.

Performance
The M7 Plus uses the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 and the M8x the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5. 91mobiles reports AnTuTu scores of 456,138 for the M7 Plus and 653,645 for the M8x. These are publisher-reported numbers and run opposite to what the chip names might suggest, so they may reflect that publisher’s testing conditions or the way it scores the chips. We found no independently controlled head-to-head test of the two phones. For everyday use such as messaging, UPI, social apps and video, expect both to be adequate budget-class performers, but do not treat either as a gaming phone on the strength of these listings.
Cameras and software
Both list a 50MP main camera and an 8MP selfie camera. Identical megapixel counts say little about image quality, and no comparative camera testing was found, so treat the cameras as equal on paper only. On software, the M7 Plus is listed with Android 15 and the M8x with Android 16. The M8x therefore starts on a newer release, though these listings may vary by sales batch or update status.

The listed prices vary by source and date, so there is no single reliable gap.

That puts the gap at about ₹3,950 to ₹5,421 across the two sources that price both phones. The 91mobiles Amazon figure is a comparison-page snapshot, not proof of a currently purchasable offer, and its note that the M7 Plus is unavailable means you may struggle to find a new unit at the listed price. Check the live listing, the configuration (RAM and storage), the seller and the warranty before deciding. Bank offers and discounts change often and are not included in these figures.

Which should you buy?
- Choose the M7 Plus if you watch video, read or browse a lot and want the sharper 1080p screen with up to 144Hz, provided you can find it in stock at a price near ₹14,000 to ₹15,500.
- Choose the M8x 5G if battery capacity and a newer Android version matter more than screen sharpness, and the roughly ₹4,000 to ₹5,400 premium is acceptable.
- Weigh the price gap carefully: you pay more for the M8x yet get a lower-resolution display. If the gap is large on the day you shop, the M7 Plus is the better value on listed specs. If it narrows sharply or the M7 Plus is unavailable, the M8x becomes the practical choice.
Before ordering either, confirm the exact RAM and storage variant, the seller and the warranty, and check Xiaomi India’s own product page for the official M8x specifications once it is available.
