Its main compromise is an unusually large 6.88-inch screen with only HD+ resolution, and its camera is less convincing in low light. This verdict applies to the Indian 5G model—not the separately sold global POCO M7 4G.
First, which POCO M7 is this?
The name covers two materially different phones in the available regional specifications. This review focuses on the POCO M7 5G sold in India. Xiaomi’s global product page and UAE specifications describe a separate 4G model; their battery, screen and network specifications should not be applied to the Indian phone.

The POCO Global product page says its 4G model can retain at least 80% of original battery capacity after 1,600 charge cycles, attributing this to POCO Internal Labs and noting that actual results may vary. That is a manufacturer test claim, not independent verification.

| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| 5G connectivity at the budget end of the market | HD+ resolution looks coarse on a 6.88-inch panel |
| Reviewers found everyday operation smooth and battery life generally sufficient for a full day | Low-light camera results are weaker than daylight photos |
| 3.5mm headphone jack and dedicated microSD slot, as reported by The Indian Express | Mono speaker rather than stereo |
| IP52 rating and bundled 33W adapter, according to Indian reviews | Pre-installed apps and a large body that may feel cumbersome |
| 50MP main camera can produce acceptable daylight results in review use | Launched with Android 14-based HyperOS; The Indian Express expected updates only through Android 16 |
How good is the display?
The Indian phone pairs a high 120Hz refresh rate with a low 720p-class resolution. Scrolling can look smooth, but that does not make text, fine details or video as sharp as on a Full HD+ panel. The Indian Express reviewer specifically found the image pixelated on the 6.88-inch screen. If display clarity matters more to you than refresh-rate smoothness, this is the phone’s most important drawback.

Do not confuse this with the global POCO M7 4G, whose UAE specifications list a 6.9-inch FHD+ display with up to 144Hz. Those are specifications for another regional model, not an upgrade mode or setting on the Indian 5G phone.
Does the POCO M7 have 5G?
The India-market POCO M7 reviewed here supports 5G and uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 2. Reviews describe it as capable for ordinary tasks such as browsing, messaging and everyday apps, rather than demanding gaming. One reviewer’s limited casual-game testing found no lag; that is a review observation, not a broad gaming benchmark.
The global POCO M7 described by Xiaomi UAE is a 4G phone with Snapdragon 685. Check the market and exact model before buying; the shared M7 name alone does not establish 5G support.

How good is the POCO M7 battery life?
The India 5G model has a 5,160mAh battery. The Indian Express reviewer reported more than a full day of use, while Business Standard described up to a day under light-to-moderate use. These are reviewers’ experiences, not a standardized battery test, so actual endurance will vary with signal, brightness, apps and workload.
The handset itself supports up to 18W charging, although Indian reviews report a 33W charger included in the box. The adapter’s printed rating does not mean the phone charges at 33W.
Are the cameras good?
Reviewers found the main camera more dependable in daylight than in low light. The Indian Express noted a 50MP main camera, while Business Standard also reported weaker night results relative to daylight. Do not treat the megapixel count as a guarantee of image quality: if night photography is a priority, the reported low-light weakness is a reason to compare alternatives in person.
What else should you know about the design and software?
Practical hardware
The Indian Express reports a 3.5mm headphone jack, a dedicated microSD slot and IP52 splash resistance. It also notes a mono speaker. These extras can matter if you use wired earphones or want local storage, but confirm the exact Indian SKU and its slot arrangement before purchase.

Size and finish
Business Standard describes the phone as large, and reports a glossy back that picks up fingerprints. The 6.88-inch screen contributes to a body that may be awkward for one-handed use.
Android version and updates
The Indian model launched with Android 14-based HyperOS. The Indian Express review said it expected Android updates only through Android 16. That is a launch-era expectation, not confirmation of the current rollout or support status; check POCO’s current update information for the precise model before buying.
Is the POCO M7 worth buying?
It can make sense if you want an affordable India-market 5G phone for routine use and value battery capacity, microSD expansion or wired audio more than a sharp screen or strong low-light photography. It is a weaker fit if you watch a lot of video, read small text on the phone, need stereo sound, take frequent night shots or prefer a compact handset.
There is no sound present-day price verdict from historical launch coverage alone. Gadgets 360 reported introductory India launch-day prices on March 3, 2025, of ₹9,999 for 6GB/128GB and ₹10,999 for the 8GB configuration; those are past introductory prices, not current recommendations. Compare the live price of the exact configuration with alternatives such as the Redmi A4 5G, Redmi 14C 5G and Moto G35, which review coverage mentions but does not establish as comparable in current price or test results.
For a fair comparison, check resolution as well as refresh rate, actual 5G support and everyday performance, handset charging speed rather than adapter rating, daylight and low-light camera performance, practical hardware, and current software support.
