The POCO F7 leads on listed processor and storage specs, while the REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G lists a larger battery and eSIM flexibility. Their price gap depends on country and configuration.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The POCO F7 is the stronger pick on listed processor and storage specifications; the REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G offers a larger battery and eSIM support in markets and with carriers that enable it. Both have a 6.83-inch 120Hz display and 50MP main plus 8MP ultra-wide rear cameras. There is no reliable universal price gap: the available prices refer to different countries, configurations and kinds of listings.

Which phone is faster?

The POCO F7 has the stronger performance specification on paper. It pairs a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 with 12GB of LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage. The REDMI lists a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 and LPDDR4X memory; storage is UFS 2.2 on the 128GB model and UFS 3.1 on the 256GB and 512GB models.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

That makes the POCO the more defensible choice if processor and storage specifications are your priority. These are specification comparisons, not results from comparable independent performance tests, so they do not establish a particular real-world speed difference.

How do their displays compare?

Both phones list the same 6.83-inch screen size, 2772 × 1280 resolution and refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Their brightness figures use different labels and conditions: Xiaomi gives the POCO F7 a peak figure of up to 3200 nits over 25% of the display, while the REDMI page lists 3500 nits UHBM and 1060 nits typical. Those figures are not a like-for-like independent measurement, so they do not establish which screen is brighter in everyday use.

The listed cover glass also differs: Gorilla Glass 7i for the POCO F7 and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for the REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G.

What do the camera specifications tell you?

Both models list a 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide rear camera. The clearer specification difference is video: the POCO lists rear recording up to 4K at 30 or 60 frames per second, while the REDMI lists up to 1080p at 30 frames per second. Their listed front cameras are 20MP on the POCO and 16MP on the REDMI.

Which has the bigger battery, and which charges faster?

The REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G has the larger listed typical battery capacity at 8340mAh, compared with 6500mAh for the POCO F7. The POCO lists faster wired charging at 90W HyperCharge; the REDMI lists 67W HyperCharge. Both specify wired reverse charging up to 22.5W.

Battery capacity alone cannot establish how long either phone lasts in real use. Actual runtime depends on usage and other conditions, and the listed figures are not a comparative battery-life test.

SIM, connectivity and durability differences

The POCO F7 lists two nano-SIM slots. The REDMI supports either two nano-SIMs or a nano-SIM plus eSIM, but eSIM availability depends on the market and carrier. Xiaomi lists Wi-Fi 7 capability for the POCO where regionally supported, alongside Bluetooth 6.0; the REDMI lists Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1. Check local band support and carrier compatibility before buying because connectivity features can vary by region.

Xiaomi gives the REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings under its stated laboratory conditions. The company cautions against beach or pool use and says protection is not assured outside test conditions. A rating should not be treated as a guarantee against water damage.

Price difference: compare within the same market

The available prices do not support a single worldwide price gap because they come from different markets and are not equivalent listings.

The Australia figures are REDMI launch offers, while the India figures are a third-party comparison listing. They should not be subtracted from one another or treated as current prices across markets. For a useful local comparison, check live prices for the same country and comparable storage configurations. Where retailer specifications differ from Xiaomi’s, use Xiaomi’s official specifications for the model features.

Which one should you choose?

  • Choose the POCO F7 if the listed chipset, memory and storage specifications are your main priorities, or if 4K rear video recording is important to you.
  • Consider the REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G if you value its larger listed battery capacity or need eSIM support, after confirming your carrier and regional model support it.
  • Compare local offers before deciding if price is decisive. The available examples do not establish a universal price winner, and configurations and market offers matter.
