POCO’s Android 13 update was generally delivered through MIUI 14, not as a separate “POCO Android 13” package. Eligibility depended on the exact model, variant, region and firmware branch, and releases were staggered rather than simultaneous.
As of August 18, 2026, Android 13 is a completed historical rollout. If a POCO phone is still running Android 12, do not assume that an Android 13 OTA is still coming. Check the phone’s exact software details, regional support record and security-patch status.

The supporting model-and-version reference also identifies phones such as the F5/F5 Pro, M6 Pro, X6 and C65 with Android 13 at launch or in early software: model reference PDF. “Received Android 13” and “came with Android 13” are different situations.

Identify the exact model first
A family name is not enough. POCO X4 Pro 5G is different from X4 GT; M4 Pro 4G is different from M4 Pro 5G; and NFC and non-NFC variants can use different firmware. Imported phones may also run software intended for another market.
MIUI 14 does not always mean Android 13
Android 13 is Google’s operating-system version. MIUI 14 is Xiaomi’s interface and firmware layer. Xiaomi used MIUI 14 to deliver Android 13 to many POCO phones, but MIUI 14 also appeared on some devices still based on Android 12.
Later software makes the distinction even more important: HyperOS 1 can be based on Android 13 or Android 14, and a HyperOS update is not automatically an Android-version upgrade. Open Settings → About phone and read the separate Android version field instead of relying on the MIUI or HyperOS label.

How to check for the update safely
- Open Settings.
- Tap About phone.
- Tap the MIUI version, Xiaomi HyperOS or similarly named software panel.
- Choose Check for updates.
- If an update is offered, inspect its Android version and full build number before downloading.
- Use reliable Wi-Fi, charge the phone adequately and back up important data.
Labels vary by MIUI version, region and device. Xiaomi’s documentation hub is at mi.com/global/support/user-guide. After installation, return to Settings → About phone and confirm that Android version says 13.

Why a POCO may say it is up to date
- The model already received its final official Android version.
- The rollout did not include your region, ROM branch or carrier channel.
- Xiaomi paused or withdrew the release after a bug or compatibility issue.
- The phone is imported, carrier-branded, unlocked or running modified firmware.
- OTA delivery is staged and has not reached that device cohort.
- The phone is beyond official major-version support.
Record the exact model, region or ROM suffix, current MIUI/HyperOS build, Android version, security-patch date, bootloader status and whether the phone was imported. Those details are more useful than the product-family name alone.
If the download fails
- Free sufficient storage and restart the phone.
- Use a stable Wi-Fi connection and check automatic date and time.
- Try again after a delay if Xiaomi’s servers are busy.
- Do not use third-party “update” apps or delete system partitions.
If an update appeared and disappeared
Xiaomi can pause or withdraw a staged OTA. Do not force installation with a package intended for another region or base build; wait for the corrected release or contact Xiaomi support.
If the phone is stuck in a boot loop
- Allow extra time for the first reboot; a major update can take longer than a normal restart.
- Connect the charger.
- Use only the model’s official force-restart procedure.
- If it remains unusable, contact Xiaomi support or an authorised service centre.
- Treat a factory reset as a last resort because it erases local data.
What Android 13 changed on POCO phones
Android 13 features were filtered through MIUI 14 and the device’s hardware and regional build. Depending on the model and software, users could see per-app language controls, notification-permission behavior for newly installed apps, updated privacy and media-access controls, photo-picker changes, Bluetooth Low Energy Audio support, and system performance or security changes.

Not every Android 13 feature is present on every POCO phone. Xiaomi’s own system apps, Google Play components, hardware support and regional decisions affect the final experience, so battery-life or performance gains are not guaranteed.

Can you install Android 13 manually?
Manual packages are not interchangeable:
- Recovery ROM: commonly applied through the updater or recovery process.
- Fastboot ROM: generally requires a computer and a more invasive flashing procedure.
- OTA package: intended for a specific device, firmware branch and base version.
Before considering any package, verify the codename, exact model, region, build number and package type. Never flash a ROM merely because the phone name looks similar, and do not mix Global, EEA, India, Indonesia, China or Russia firmware.
Manual flashing can wipe data, fail verification, cause boot loops or leave the phone inoperable. Bootloader unlocking and unofficial software can also affect security, warranty treatment, banking apps, DRM, camera functions and future OTAs. A device-agnostic “download this ROM and flash it” recipe is unsafe.
What happens after Android 13?
Android-version support and security support are separate lifecycles. A POCO can run Android 13 while receiving no current security patches. Check the Android security-update date and Google Play system-update date in Settings → About phone, then compare the exact model and market with Xiaomi’s Security Center phone-update information.
Xiaomi’s current global schedule concerns newer HyperOS releases, including HyperOS 3, not a renewed Android 13 rollout: Xiaomi HyperOS schedule. Xiaomi says schedules and supported-model lists can change. A newer HyperOS release also does not by itself identify the Android base version.

Custom ROMs after official support
A custom ROM may provide a newer Android version after POCO support ends, but it is not an official update. Expect possible data wipes, bootloader unlocking, banking or DRM problems, camera limitations, uncertain maintenance and no official OTA support. It is an advanced alternative, not the default fix for a missing update.

Is every MIUI 14 build based on Android 13?
No. MIUI 14 was used with Android 12 on some devices. Check the separate Android version field in Settings → About phone.
Why is my POCO still on Android 12 in 2026?
Your exact model or regional branch may not have been eligible, the rollout may have been withdrawn, or the phone may have reached its final official major-version support.

An official OTA normally does not require bootloader unlocking. Manual recovery or fastboot flashing has different requirements and carries wipe and compatibility risks.

How do I check my POCO security-patch date?
Open Settings → About phone and review the Android security update and Google Play system update entries, then compare the model with Xiaomi’s Security Center listing.
Is an imported POCO eligible for the same update?
Not necessarily. Imported devices can use another region’s firmware channel, which changes OTA availability, build numbers, network features and manual-ROM compatibility.
Will Android 13 definitely improve battery life?
No. Battery and performance results depend on the model, hardware, MIUI build, apps and settings; improvements are not guaranteed.
