Pluto TV is officially available in a range of countries across the Americas and Europe, but its catalog varies by location. A VPN may make a connection appear to come from a supported country, yet Pluto TV can detect and block VPN addresses. In a guide updated for October 2026, Gizmodo reported access through US servers from NordVPN, ExpressVPN, Surfshark, and Private Internet Access (PIA). Those are Gizmodo’s results, not a guarantee or independent testing by this site.
Where is Pluto TV available in 2026?
Gizmodo’s current guide lists Pluto TV in 30 countries across North America, Latin America, and Europe. This is a third-party roster, not an official country directory from Pluto TV or Paramount, so check the service in your location before relying on it.

Gizmodo says Pluto TV channels in Australia are available through Network 10 rather than listing Australia as a Pluto TV market. Availability and programming can differ by country; the service is free and ad-supported, with hundreds of live channels and thousands of on-demand titles according to Pluto TV’s About Us page.

That was a launch-time figure, not a current channel count. The same announcement described the service as streaming in more than 30 countries and territories globally at that time. It should not be treated as a current 2026 country total.

Which VPNs did Gizmodo report working with Pluto TV?
Gizmodo’s guide, updated for October 2026, reports that these four VPNs accessed Pluto TV through US servers in its tests:
| VPN | Reported result and attribution | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| NordVPN | Gizmodo reported access through US servers in its October 2026 tests. | Gizmodo named it its top choice; that is the publisher’s assessment, not a universal ranking. |
| ExpressVPN | Gizmodo reported access through US servers in its October 2026 tests. | Gizmodo characterized setup as simple. Confirm current device support and plan terms with the provider. |
| Surfshark | Gizmodo reported access through US servers in its October 2026 tests. | Gizmodo highlighted household coverage. Check current account and device terms with the provider. |
| Private Internet Access (PIA) | Gizmodo reported access through US servers in its October 2026 tests. | Gizmodo assessed it as a lower-cost option; prices and renewal terms can change, so verify them directly. |
Gizmodo also reported that Proton VPN and CyberGhost failed in those tests. Proton’s own Pluto TV support page says users can connect to specified Plus servers in the United States, France, Switzerland, or Germany, while warning that Pluto TV may not always work. Proton also says it does not condone using its VPN to bypass copyright regulations. The provider’s guidance and Gizmodo’s test outcome differ; neither establishes what will happen on every server or at a later date.

- 【Keep your Internet Safe】IPv6 supported. OpenVPN & WireGuard pre-installed, compatible with 30+ VPN service providers. Cloudflare encryption supported to protect the privacy.
All of these results are time-sensitive. Streaming services can identify VPN server addresses, and access may stop working without notice. A VPN connection alone does not guarantee that Pluto TV will play.
How to try a VPN with Pluto TV
- Install a VPN app on the device you plan to watch on, if the provider supports it.
- Connect to a VPN server in a country where Pluto TV is available and whose catalog you want. Gizmodo’s reported tests used US servers.
- Open Pluto TV in a browser or its app and check whether the stream loads. Pluto TV’s official device page lists web viewing, Windows desktop, Android, Apple TV, and Amazon Fire TV, among other platforms.
- If you switch regions and still see the previous catalog, Gizmodo recommends clearing Pluto TV cookies before trying again.
A supported phone, computer, browser, or TV platform may already be enough; buying a streaming device is optional. For a TV that cannot run a VPN app, Gizmodo points to Smart DNS or router configuration as alternatives, but setup depends on the VPN provider and device. An Amazon Fire TV device can run Pluto TV, but the device itself does not change your location or bypass regional availability.

Why does Pluto TV say you are using a VPN?
According to Gizmodo, Pluto TV uses the viewer’s IP location to choose a regional catalog. A connection from a location outside the markets on its list may show a “Pluto TV is not available in your location” message. A separate proxy warning or playback error may mean Pluto TV has flagged the VPN server’s IP address, even though the VPN app says it is connected.
- Location message: Check that the VPN is connected to a country where Pluto TV is listed as available; Gizmodo says the message can also appear if the VPN is disabled.
- Proxy warning: The server’s IP may have been identified as a VPN address. A different server could behave differently, but success is not assured.
- Playback error, including code 3005: Gizmodo describes this as a possible playback error. Reopen the app or browser and check the VPN connection; the code alone does not establish the cause.
On school, employer, or public networks, follow the network owner’s rules. Gizmodo cautions that school or workplace policies may prohibit VPN use.
