Pluto TV’s official troubleshooting guidance also points to connection stability, browser cache and cookies, and VPN/proxy warnings. It does not establish whether Pluto TV is experiencing a service-wide outage today, so these checks can help narrow down the cause without assuming the service is down.
Why is Pluto TV not working today?
A loading screen, buffering, or a failed stream can come from the app or device, an unstable connection, browser data, or a compatibility issue. Start with the fix that matches where you are watching; if the problem persists, compare another device or network to see whether it follows the app, device, or connection.
Pluto TV’s Troubleshooting Tips & Tricks recommends using current app and operating-system versions and says connection stability matters as well as speed. The article was last modified on April 15, 2025. That guidance is not a live outage report, so it cannot confirm whether Pluto TV is down right now.
7 fixes to try when Pluto TV keeps loading
1. Update Pluto TV and your device
Install the latest Pluto TV app version available for your device, then check for device operating-system updates. Pluto TV specifically advises viewers to use the latest app and OS versions. Restart the app after updating and test a stream again.

- TV, simplified: With setup that only takes minutes, a simple-to-navigate Home Screen, and an uncluttered remote control that does all you need—Roku makes it easier to watch the TV you love.
2. Check connection speed and stability
Pluto TV says a connection “faster than 5mb” is important, while also noting that a stable connection can be just as important for playback. The support article does not define that figure more precisely or give a resolution-by-resolution speed table, so treat it as Pluto TV’s general wording rather than a guaranteed threshold.
As a diagnostic, try another network: compare Wi-Fi with mobile data, or use a wired connection if your device and router support it. If you are already on Wi-Fi, moving closer to the router may help reveal whether signal quality is involved. An Ethernet cable is optional; you do not need to buy one to try the other checks.

3. Try Pluto TV in a desktop browser
On a computer, open Pluto.TV without installing an app. Pluto TV recommends Chrome or Firefox for desktop and laptop viewing. If the website works while the app does not, that points toward an app- or device-specific problem; if neither works, the comparison alone cannot identify the cause.
4. Clear browser cache and cookies
If Pluto TV fails in a browser, clear that browser’s cache and cookies using its settings, then reopen Pluto TV and try again. Pluto TV has support material for cache and cookie issues in its Audio & Video support topic. The linked page does not provide a universal set of browser steps, so use the instructions for your particular browser.

5. Check for a VPN or proxy warning
If Pluto TV explicitly shows a message asking you to disable a VPN or proxy, follow the instructions in Pluto TV’s related troubleshooting articles. This is relevant when that warning appears; it is not evidence that VPNs explain every loading problem.
6. Confirm device and regional availability
Pluto TV lists support for platform families including Fire TV, Apple iOS and tvOS, Android, Chromecast, LG webOS, Xbox, desktop browsers, and Samsung Tizen TVs from 2017 onward. Availability can differ by region, so check Pluto TV’s compatible-devices information for your location and device rather than assuming every listed platform is available everywhere.
