Sony has not announced an OLED PlayStation Portal. A report says two Sony model numbers, CFI-Y2000 and CFI-Y2105, appeared in Wi-Fi Alliance certifications dated September 21, 2026, prompting speculation that they could relate to Portal hardware. The certification entries do not identify a product or confirm its screen technology.
What the certifications show—and what they don’t
TweakTown reported on October 6, 2026, that Sony model numbers CFI-Y2000 and CFI-Y2105 were certified on September 21. The report interprets them as possible Portal-family hardware, but that connection is an inference, not a confirmation from Sony. The entries do not name a PlayStation Portal or specify an OLED display. TweakTown’s report

The report says the CFI-Y2000 listing indicates dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi, up to Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), with no Wi-Fi 6 or 6 GHz noted. That is the report’s reading of a certification listing, not a complete specification for a finished product. It does not establish how a device would perform in real-world network conditions.

How a rumored model compares with the current Portal
Sony’s Taiwan product page describes the current PlayStation Portal as an 8-inch LCD device with 1080p resolution and a refresh rate of up to 60 FPS. The available information is not enough to make a factual side-by-side specification comparison with an unannounced model.
| Detail | Current PlayStation Portal | Rumored hardware |
|---|---|---|
| Product identification | PlayStation Portal Remote Player | Not confirmed as a Portal; TweakTown speculates that CFI-Y2000 and CFI-Y2105 may be Portal-family hardware. TweakTown |
| Display | 8-inch LCD, according to Sony Taiwan. Sony Taiwan | Unknown; the certification report does not specify a screen. TweakTown |
| Resolution and frame rate | 1080p and up to 60 FPS, according to Sony Taiwan. Sony Taiwan | Unknown. TweakTown |
| Wireless details | Not stated in the cited product-page details. | TweakTown says the CFI-Y2000 listing shows dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi up to Wi-Fi 5; final product capability is unknown. TweakTown |

There is no confirmed OLED model or test result to show whether a screen change would improve image quality, affect battery life or justify an upgrade. Those outcomes depend on the final hardware and cannot be inferred from certification alone.
What the current Portal can do
Remote Play with a PS5
The Portal is a remote-play device for compatible games installed on a PS5; it does not replace the console. Sony says Remote Play requires a PS5 and PlayStation Network account. The PS5 must have internet access and be turned on or in Rest Mode. Sony recommends at least 15 Mbps for a better experience, while noting that quality can vary with the network environment. These details come from Sony Taiwan’s product page, so market-specific availability and listing details may differ. Sony Taiwan’s Portal page

Sony Support says Portal Remote Play connects to PS5 and is not compatible with PS4. PlayStation Portal compatibility
Cloud streaming
Sony’s March 17, 2026 update added a 1080p High Quality mode for both Remote Play and Cloud Streaming. Supported Portal cloud streaming requires PlayStation Plus Premium; that subscription requirement is separate from ordinary Remote Play, which connects to a PS5. PlayStation.Blog, March 17, 2026
Sony reported that Portal cloud-streaming monthly users grew 162% year over year in January, and that over 50% of Portal users were Premium subscribers. Sony’s stated measurement period for both figures was December 2025 to January 2026. These are company-reported usage figures, not independently audited market-wide statistics. PlayStation.Blog

Should you wait for an OLED Portal?
If you need a remote-play device now, the current Portal is the only model confirmed in the cited sources. If an OLED screen or a new hardware revision is essential to your decision, waiting avoids buying on the assumption that an unannounced model will arrive. There is no confirmed price, launch date, display technology or final feature set for any successor.
