How to Get a PlayStation Plus Refund: Eligibility and Steps

If you bought PlayStation Plus through PlayStation Store, check your country’s cancellation policy and the date of your first subscription transaction. PlayStation’s UK policy allows a refund request within 14 days of that initial transaction, even after you begin using the service, but may deduct an amount for the time used. PlayStation’s Ireland guide describes a 14-day window for the first payment, not a recurring fee. These are regional rules, not a universal guarantee.

First, check your region and purchase date

Refund rights depend on the country or region associated with your PlayStation Store account. The official sources cited here cover the UK, Ireland and Canada; local law may provide additional rights. Find the date of the initial transaction or sign-up, and check whether you had a free trial. Under the UK policy, trial time counts toward the 14-day period. The Ireland guide gives a seven-day trial as an example: if the subscription is charged after the trial, seven days remain in the stated 14-day window.

How to request a PlayStation Plus refund

Confirm the purchase and applicable region. Make sure the subscription was purchased through PlayStation Store and use the support page for your account’s country.
Check whether the request concerns the first payment. PlayStation’s Ireland guide describes eligibility for the first subscription payment, not a recurring fee.
Check the relevant 14-day period. The UK cancellation policy measures it from the initial transaction and includes trial time; the Ireland guide also gives a 14-day checklist for the first payment.
Open PlayStation Support for your region and follow its refund route. The Ireland guide provides a purchase-date check. The reviewed guidance does not guarantee approval, so submit a request rather than assuming the charge will be reversed.

What changes if you have already used PlayStation Plus?

In the UK, PlayStation says a subscription refund may be requested within 14 days of the initial transaction “even after you start using the subscription.” It may reduce the refund to account for service used. PlayStation’s Ireland guide identifies online play, downloading monthly games and using cloud storage as examples of use that may affect the refund. The reviewed guidance does not specify a fixed deduction or calculation, so the amount is not predictable from these examples alone.

A refund request and stopping renewal are different

If the charge was recurring or the 14-day window has passed

The Ireland guide’s subscription checklist is limited to the first payment, not recurring fees. The cited sources do not establish that a recurring payment or a request made outside the relevant period qualifies for a refund. Check your region’s current policy and contact its PlayStation Support channel to confirm what applies to your transaction; local legal rights may differ.
