To check a child’s recent PlayStation activity, open the PlayStation Family app, select the child, and scroll to Activity. Sony says this widget covers the last seven days and lists the child’s most-played games and apps. On PS4, a separate Family Management screen shows a child’s total logged-in time for the day. These official routes do not establish a universal lifetime-hours report for adult accounts.
Which PlayStation playtime report do you need?
Sony’s documented options differ by account and time period. The Family app reports recent activity for a child account managed in a family; the PS4 console menu reports a child’s daily time. Neither should be read as a complete all-time total of active gameplay.

| Route | What it shows | Who can use it |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation Family app Activity widget | Child activity summary for the last seven days, including most-played games and apps | Family managers, parents, and guardians viewing a child’s activity; the free app supports iOS 14 or later and Android 8 or later (Sony PlayStation Support; PlayStation Family App; privacy settings guidance) |
| PS4 Family Management | Child’s total playtime for the day, measured as time logged in—even when no game or application is running | A family member’s child account, accessed through family controls; daily reset follows the time zone configured for the child (Sony Canada ratings and parental-controls guidance) |
How to see a child’s recent playtime in the PlayStation Family app
- Open the PlayStation Family app and sign in.
- Select the child at the top of the home screen.
- Scroll to the Activity widget. It shows a summary for the last seven days and the child’s most-played games and apps.
- If the information looks out of date, reopen or refresh the app. Sony says playtime data updates when the app is opened or refreshed.
The app is intended for family managers, parents, and guardians to view child activity. Sony lists iOS 14 or later and Android 8 or later as supported minimum operating-system versions. See the PlayStation Family App page and Sony’s account support.

- On the PS4, open Settings.
- Go to Parental Controls/Family Management, then Family Management.
- Choose the child or family member whose time you want to check. Sony’s guidance shows the child’s total playtime for the day.
Here, “playtime” means time the child is logged in to the PS4, even if no game or application is running. The daily count resets at midnight in the time zone configured for that child. This is a daily logged-in-time measure, not a count of time actively playing a particular game. Details are in Sony’s Canada ratings and parental-controls guidance.

Why you may not see the same controls or activity
Playtime reporting and limits are family features, not a general adult account-hours dashboard. Sony’s playtime controls require a child account in the family, a family manager or appointed parent or guardian, and a configured time zone. For information about setting limits, see How to set playtime on PlayStation. Sony also documents family-management locations for PS4 and PS5 in its console parental-controls guide.
The cited Sony guidance establishes a recent activity report for children and a daily child-time check on PS4. It does not establish a universal lifetime-hours screen for adult accounts or a complete all-time per-game total. That does not rule out an individual game showing its own playtime statistic; availability would depend on the game and its features.
