You can use Apple Health records, a quick personal energy check-in, and tasks stored in Obsidian to make a more informed daily plan—but not to calculate an objective “energy score.” Health data can provide context; your own check-in adds how you feel now; AI can help sort options. Treat its suggestions as suggestions, review them yourself, and keep a manual fallback for days when data is missing or you do not want to share it.
What this workflow can—and cannot—tell you
Apple Health can hold records such as sleep, workouts, and activity, depending on what data is available and which apps or devices have contributed it. Those records describe selected health or fitness information; they do not directly describe whether you are ready to write a report, make a difficult decision, or do a particular task.

There is no established evidence here that Apple Health metrics reliably predict which task is best for a particular person at a particular moment. Use them as context to compare with your own experience, not as a measurement of cognitive capacity, diagnosis, or medical guidance. A personal rating of energy or focus is subjective, but it can help you notice when a recommendation does or does not fit.
Build a small, useful daily input
Start with the planning choice you want help making: for example, choosing between focused desk work, routine administration, and a physical errand. Collect only information that could help with that choice, and do not assume health records already contain task-specific information.

Record how you feel
Once a day—or when you are making a meaningful planning decision—write a brief rating in your preferred notes workflow. A simple scale such as 1–5 is enough if you use it consistently. You might separately rate energy and focus, or add a short note such as “low focus, but willing to do routine work.” These ratings are personal observations, not clinical measurements.
Describe tasks in terms you can act on
In Obsidian, keep task metadata concise. A task can include its description, estimated effort, deadline, and whether it mainly requires sustained focus, routine attention, or physical effort. For example:

If you decide to include Apple Health information, select only data types relevant to your planning question. A sleep record might be context for your own check-in; a workout record might help explain why you feel physically tired. Neither one determines what you can do. If health data is unavailable, partial, or too sensitive to share, continue with your subjective rating and task list.

Use AI to organize options, not to decide for you
A useful AI request asks for a transparent sorting of tasks using the details you provide. It should distinguish deadlines from preferences, state assumptions, and leave the decision with you. For example, provide a short list of tasks, their effort and focus labels, deadlines, your current self-rating, and only the health context you are comfortable sharing.
You can ask:
Given these tasks and my self-reported energy and focus, suggest an order for today. Prioritize deadlines, then match tasks to the effort and focus I listed. Treat health information as context only, do not infer a medical condition or an objective readiness score, and identify any assumptions. Offer a manual alternative if the information is incomplete.
Check the proposed order against what you know about your day. You may have a meeting, a personal preference, or a deadline constraint that the input did not capture. Override the suggestion when it does not fit. Do not use a productivity prompt for diagnosis or treatment recommendations.

Choose a data path only after checking how it works
Apple Health, Obsidian, and an AI service do not automatically form one standard, verified integration. Community posts describe possible Health-to-Obsidian workflows, but those reports do not establish that a particular exporter, shortcut, plugin, or transfer route currently works with your devices and software versions. Check the exact route’s current documentation and compatibility before relying on it.

The data path matters as much as the planning result. A manual note, an on-device process, a cloud AI request, and a third-party sync or export service can handle information differently. Do not assume a workflow is local or private based on its label. Identify what leaves your device, which provider receives it, how it is stored or retained, and how to revoke access before including sensitive health details.

If a Shortcut is part of the route
A downloaded Shortcut may request access to health information. Apple cautions that shortcuts shared outside its Gallery may not have been reviewed by Apple, and you control which personal data they can access. Inspect the actions and requested permissions before running a shared shortcut; do not approve access that is unnecessary for the task.
If an app requests HealthKit access
HealthKit permissions are requested by data type, and you can change permissions later. Available history may be limited: a user can grant only a recent window of data, and an app may not be able to distinguish a denial from some limited-access outcomes. Design your workflow to handle missing or partial records rather than treating them as zero or as proof that something did not happen.
Apple’s developer guidance says HealthKit use must serve health or fitness purposes, be clearly explained in an app’s marketing and interface, and be covered by a privacy policy. If an app or service proposes to use health data in a way you do not understand, do not proceed until its purpose and data handling are clear.

- Capture a few tasks in Obsidian. Add a realistic effort estimate, any deadline, and a simple focus or physical-effort label.
- Write a personal check-in. Record how your energy and focus feel now, with a short note if useful.
- Ask AI to sort the candidates. Include only the task details and personal context needed for a suggestion. Start without Apple Health data.
- Review the order yourself. Consider deadlines, commitments, and whether the recommendation matches your experience; then choose the next task.
- Reflect briefly afterward. Note whether the suggestion helped. Over time, this may help you understand your own preferences, but it does not validate a predictive energy model.
If this manual version is useful and you still want health context, investigate a specific export or integration route separately. Confirm its current OS and app compatibility, exact data permissions, destination of the data, and AI provider’s handling before connecting it.
Keep an easy fallback
When Health data is missing, access is limited, or you prefer not to share it, use the same task list and your own check-in. Choose the task with the clearest deadline or the best fit for how you feel. The workflow should remain useful without importing health records; if it cannot, it is too dependent on data that may be incomplete or unavailable.
