Pixel Search version 1.0.983036833 adds three privacy-related toggles, according to Android Authority. The same report found references to Gemini-powered suggestions in the app’s code, but said the feature was not available yet. One distinction matters now: turning off the Call Logs or SMS toggle limits use of that source to improve contact suggestions; it does not stop matching calls or messages from appearing in search results.
What the Pixel Search update changes
Android Authority reported on October 5, 2026, that Pixel Search version 1.0.983036833 includes a new “Privacy & Permissions” section with three toggles: “Help improve Pixel Search,” “Call Logs,” and “SMS.” The report says Pixel 11 owners can get the updated app through the Play Store. Google had not published a corresponding announcement in the reporting cited here. Android Authority’s report

What each toggle controls
- Help improve Pixel Search: Opts out of aggregating data for usage insights. The report does not detail the insights’ exact scope, data flows, or retention periods.
- Call Logs: Controls whether call-log information is used to improve contact suggestions.
- SMS: Controls whether SMS information is used to improve contact suggestions.
Turning off SMS or Call Logs does not hide those results
The Call Logs and SMS toggles are not search-result exclusions. Android Authority says turning either one off does not, by itself, keep matching calls or messages out of Pixel Search results. To stop Pixel Search from accessing a source for results, revoke the corresponding “Call logs” or “SMS” permission on the app’s App Permissions page.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

|---|---|---|
| Call Logs or SMS toggle in Pixel Search | Controls use of the source to improve contact suggestions. | Turning it off does not prevent matching results from appearing in search. |
| Corresponding app permission | Controls whether Pixel Search can access that source. | Revoking the permission is the reported way to exclude that source from search results. |
The report does not establish that either setting deletes previously collected information from Google systems.

Gemini-powered suggestions are only a possibility
Android Authority says an examination of Pixel Search app code found the strings “Show Gemini-powered suggestions” and “See relevant info and Gemini-suggested actions to help you finish a task faster.” Those strings suggest a feature in development, not one users can rely on today. The report said Gemini suggestions did not appear to be available in the version examined and might arrive in a future update.

Which Pixel phones are covered?
Android Authority reports that Pixel Search is preloaded on the Pixel 11 series and that Pixel 11 owners can get the version with the privacy section. It also says older Pixels can sideload the app on Android 17 QPR2 Beta 5 or newer. That is secondary reporting, not an official compatibility guarantee, and should not be read as confirmation of support on stable Android releases. Gemini suggestions have no confirmed compatibility details.

Google’s broader Pixel safety information says Pixel 6 and later use on-device intelligence for features and names federated learning and Android Private Compute Core among technologies used to help protect privacy. That general description does not explain how Pixel Search’s specific controls work or how any future Gemini suggestions would process data.
